I've had a tab open on a Ti Switch9er for a month or so. I can't get myself to pull the trigger but it looks sooo good!

Rode Gooseberry this weekend at my wife's request for mother's day. Not the best bike shot, but the view ain't bad:

Also had the pleasure of playing pack mule while my wife got a big mother's day ride in:

Hey man. How bad were the paint marks? Mind showing a photo? I have an Offering with a weird paint spot on it and would like to do some comparison to what yours looked like.

Put in a solid weekend of riding. Shuttled some DH on Sat. and a DJ sesh on Sun. The body is feeling a bit like chewed bubblegum today. I'm getting the Giga dialed in, it's a damn solid all-arounder. It doesn't feel like too much of a beast on the tight slower stuff but it really loves it when you let it rip on the steeps and jumps, and it actually climbs quite well too. I'm riding the stock X2 air right now, the DHX2 coil I got was squelching out of the box so I sent it in. Crazy how dry it is out there already, we're already hitting the mid 90s.

PS. I did go to the Ortho to get the knee checked out. He said I probably do have a tear but didn't think I was in any danger of making it worse based on how it happened and that I could keep riding. I've got an MRI scheduled next week and a follow up. I think they will end up wanting to scope it but I'm not too concerned.:sawzall:

I think I've asked this before, but... anyone running a vertical "tire basket" rack, like the Alta Rack or Velocirax? If so, anyone have issues with sidewall rubbing? I switched to an Alta rack on our van and it's doing a lot of damage to our tires' sidewalls.
    or5epdujg29CGZdn15kxGh5-H9Xx9ex-xfAswMqt_4f1f63342bbfc75a31a13f72f4b74bafefef52c4.jpg

Aly at Alta racks sent these poly-spiral things to help but they haven't made a difference. It's reached the point that I think I'm gonna sell the rack and look in to other options. It's a shame cause it's a great rack system otherwise, especially for the van.

I have a NorthShore Rack. That design doesn't require sidewall contact. It's pretty bomber and simple

I've heard lots of stories of bad rust on the NorthShore rack. It also freaks me out to hang the bike by the fork crown. No issues with any damage to bikes?

All that aside, as a short person, my wife is pretty hesitant for any other vertical rack design. The Alta rack works cause she can basically roll her bike in to the wheel basket when it's tilted down.

    I'm debating going fancy...

Or tried and true with a swing-out and 1up tray (though I don't love how much this sticks out w/ 4 trays)

I prefer hanging the bike via fork crown on our regular vehicles - I can drive like a lunatic with no repercussions lol. Truck just uses a pad.

On the van we have a swingout and two bike rack. Four bike rack would be a lot, I imagine you'd be scraping on the slightest of inclines.

The One-Up thing is pretty sick but of course $$. Although you get what you pay for

i heard over the weekend that when you start to see those "x"s on the side walls of your tires, it because your running too low of pressure. i always thought it was high speeds through dusty stuff. thats when i start to see the x's at least. i normally run too low of pressure, so it could be true.

anyone else hear about it being from low pressure?

I think it is from too low of pressure but from my point of view, if you can run that low of pressure and not have the tire feeling squirrelly or getting pinch flats then why not? I’ve had a tire wear through once and that was back with tubes and probably before stuff like exo casings.

if you want to extend the life of the tire sure but I’d still be curious which will last longer, the sidewall or tread.

Any Flagstaff people around this weekend and up for a ride? Coming down for the overland expo, likely ride around Flag and then maybe Sedona or Prescott Sunday/Monday.

Doesn't matter the pressure if you're working the tire hard the side cords will start showing eventually.

ive never had a sidewall issue that wasn't related to a puncture. treads for me always wear down faster, but again, i normally run low pressure

I mostly remember seeing them at bike parks. So working the tires hard makes sense.
