I have a Smith model 657 that I bought new in 1990 (I still have the receipt:)), anyhow....it probably has had less than 300 rounds fired thru it, and since it just sits there I'm thinking of getting rid of it (trade or sell). Problem is, I have no idea of a 'real' value of it. I've seen anywhere from $750 - $1500. Ammo is not easily available and I think I'd rather have something a little more reasonable to shoot. Does anyone have an idea of a legit value of it?
    Serial number is BBA9029

Those 41 mags kinda have a cult following. If you were on the blue S&W Forum I bet you could sell it fast. Especially if you have the original box and everything that came in it. They shy away from new members selling stuff thou.

If you listed in on Gun Broker you might luck into a bidding war and get way more than you expected, but their fees suck.

Just did a completed auction search on GB for the 657's. Anywhere from $900 to $2,300. One owner, with the box and papers should bring high. The fact it still has the satin factory finish is a major plus too.

    Thank you!
Next week I'm going to visit a few different gun shops and go from there (I already know how that will go tho). After I get rejected there I'll probably try to figure out the best way to private party it. Thanks again!

Got a couple PSA drop in triggers. One for the straight pull bolt action AR, one for the 15-22. Had to order different anti-walk pins for the 15-22.
Absolutely an improvement, though I do with the trigger weight was more around 1.5-2 for the straight pull. But, it'll work well for now.

    Follow up to this....
I was fully expecting a $600 trade-in offer ($700 max) but my local dealer said he'd allow $1k trade in, so I took it. I'm sure I could've squeezed a couple hundred more (maybe) by selling it but didn't really want to deal with that.
So he's ordering a IWI Masada for me, which will just over $500 to play with.
    Thanks for the help!

I had been looking at it for a bit - so I found a place locally that had it in stock.
As soon as I held it, I felt the same way.
