Maybe you should read up on what brake pads do in a vehicle.

True but the brakes run out of ability to dissipate heat after some use especially when towing and going through corners. Rotors and pads with better heat disapation work better than stock when used on multiple braking events.

I've had the stock setup routinely go into bad brake fade just going harder through corners, even sooner when towing.

I’m confident that the brakes that come on automobiles are fully adequate as long as you stay within the limits listed by the manufacturer. It would be a huge issue with class action lawsuits otherwise. Also, you should be employing engine braking instead of riding your brakes until they get so hot that they start fading.

There's a reason you upgrade brakes when you race a vehicle. Manufactures base their build on the average driver not fringes. For some of us driving in a "sporty" manner upgraded brakes are needed. The stock set over heat and fade easily.

Using engine braking when quickly slowing down at the limits of the tires can lock the back tires up which is the last thing I want headed into a corner.

You can setup your truck for racing if you like, but it is not required for daily driving.

The engine braking comment was in reference to riding your brakes, e.g. when descending a mountain.

She's kinda near stock... for now
Today after a very long time waiting for pads directly from EBC; front pads and rotors were swapped out. Slotted and 6k series green stuff. Some have said oem this and that and every one has their opinions and preferences on the ability to stop. Dusty rims suck but I personally couldnt care less about brake dust or the lack of dust as the taco gets washed as need be. Having the 6k series on my jeep and being extremely satisfied with brake performance off road, towing, and on road use; I obviously went with 6k series on the Taco knowing what I'd expect.

I had driven maybe 10 miles today and even though the brake in coating has yet to wear off, I'm extremely satisfied with the ability to press the brake pedal maybe 2" and have a confident pad-rotor bite. Even though I'm still in the break in period for the pads coating; at the moment OEM versus EBC is night and day stopping confidence.

Next on the agenda are shoes!

They give better than OE cold bite. When warmed, questionable.

My autox experienced buddies tried all flavors of EBC stuff a few years ago when they were new-ish on the market. Worked pretty good on technical courses in the 45 second range, not long enough to get hot.

On longer courses and at HPDE days they were disappointing.

Hope they work well for you specific use case.

The way I drive not off road or towing, brakes are only used the last 30 or so mph; coasting or trans downshifting so I generally do get great life out of pads. Typically swap out trans fluid sooner then oem recommendations or depending how hard I'll push my vehicles on and off road.

The Jeep has gotten 30k or so on a set of EBC which imo is extremely impressive given the fact that it has small rotors and laughable calipers. The jeep used to be the trail and tow rig. I'm fully expecting these EBC pads to surpass 30k miles and even if they don't, brakes are a quick 20 minute job to be done.

Perhaps not in Minnesota, but people in Florida are CRAZY. You need every ounce of brakes here for when they cut in front of you. And it’s gotten far worst post Covid due to people not caring and the further influx of “people” from NY/NJ.

In a "hill climb" brakes are not the first thing I am thinking about? I guess if you don't make it up, then you remember...."oh shit did we upgrade the brakes?"
