Neighbor bumped into my parked truck over the weekend. The quote was $4700 and change.

You cant push it out from behind. Or you can buy an aftermarket bumper for less with the install

The bumper is cracked/slit. It’s done.

time for an off-road bump with a winch. The damage will be done to his car next time and not yours.

The damage seems to be above the cut line for most bumpers. OP could still likely get the R4T bumper caps + steel / alu bumper of choice and still have enough to upgrade to LED headlights!

Was thinking of saving him money and getting an upgrade at the same time. Hard to find anything I like and that’s light weight.

Not my problem honestly. Neighbors paying not me. I trust this body shop to do top notch work and not cut corners too.

Not surprised. The blinker fluid reservoir usually sits right behind this bit

    There's top notch and there's ream-the-insurance.

I just had a hood replaced, repainted, and blended into the fenders. $1500 all in, at a well reputed shop.

But as you say, its the neighbor's insurance that is going to get it.

Personally I would just take the money and not even repair it, if I could get it to pop back out without too much damage past the paint scrapes and slit.

    Crazy it costs that much

The same reason why medical bills cost 5k if going through insurance and 1.5k if a patient pays for them

I used to fix cars a couple years. I would do everything besides paint and welding a new core support. I’ll pay someone to do that.

All included, this job would have cost me $1200 or less. It’s crazy what shops are charging now.

and how different shops quote. Someone hit my wifes car in the quarter panel and they quoted us $1600. I just took it to a shop since I was busy…..they charged the insurance for $6900

Same thing happened to while outside at my friends house. I watched his neighbor back right into the front of my old subaru as his girlfriend was chewing his ear off with the windows down. He hit at about 2 mphs rolling into it with a commercial hitch all I could do is laugh along with the 3 other people with us. Fender, headlight, bumper cover and washer bucket. $4500 including a 7 day rental. Needless to say that young ladies days were numbered and we didn't see her weeks later, lol.

Doesn't his insurance take care of it?
