    Hi folks,

I'm a first time Tacoma owner having just bought a 2008 4cyl 4x4 Access cab with the 5spd manual.
While poking around I found a lot of talk about "Clutch pedal Free play" and the importance of adjusting this correctly. What I can't find are specifics about when this is necessary and a good write-up for DIY.

Therefore, I'm wondering -- having just bought this truck without any knowledge of what might have been done prior or when, and without any current issues or concerns with the shifting - do I need to check and adjust this to ensure continued smooth operation??

How difficult is it to do this without screwing it up?? How often should this be checked? Does anyone have a clear write-up or youtube video they can point me to specific to Tacomas??

I'm a transitioning Jeep guy and have done a couple clutch jobs myself, but there was no screwing around with the pedal involved on those old Jeep 5spds.

    Thanks,
    PatHenry52

I've had my 06' Prerunner (4 cyl, 5 speed manual) for 17 years and 190,000 miles. Original clutch. Never had to adjust the clutch, or even think about it. Always seems good. Rock solid. YMMV...

Right there with you. 13 years, 161k on the original clutch with no adjustments.

    Great thanks guys!!!

I think then I'll leave the pedal as-is and revisit if/when I have to do a clutch job on it.
