I recently upgraded my head unit to include Apple CarPlay, and I must say, it's been a fantastic addition! However, during the installation process, I accidentally blew the fuses for both the radio and the ignition. Fortunately, I replaced them, and everything seems to be functioning perfectly. The only issue now is that my check engine light and traction control light have turned on, and I'm unsure of the cause. I'm wondering if it could be related to another blown fuse, but I'm uncertain which one it might be. Do you have any ideas or suggestions regarding what could be causing this?

If you don’t have a code reader, you might try disconnecting the negative battery cable for a minute and see if it fixes it.

Also, is your gas cap on tight?

Can be all sorts of stuff. Get a code reader. Mine did just that for a bad charcoal canister because someone wanted to top the gas off and flooded it with fuel.

A ELM327 OBD dongle and a free app is the cheapest and easiest way in my opinion.

Sounds like you didn't have the negative battery terminal disconnected while you did the install. Always a safe bet with the fussy electrical system in these trucks. People have fried stuff upgrading their interior lights to LED. FYI, if you don't have a code reader you can go to your local Auto Zone store (or similar) and have them read it for free.

My Suburu Legacy just had an errant CEL & Trac Contol lights flashing, where cruise control was also not functional, and it was a blown 'ECU' fuse.

FYI, last weekend I had the head unit in my '17 Tacoma disconnected to put in the anytime rear camera mod, and didn't think to disconnect the negative battery cable 1st.

After the work was done, my CEL and TRAC OFF lights were lit as well as the cruise control didn't work. The simple fix is to disconnect the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes. Once reconnected, it should reset the error codes.

Another solution is to get an OBD scan done, and use the scanner to clear the codes.

My old car, an '08 Subaru would throw these same error codes occasionally (for no valid reason). I bought a $15 OBD2 scanner at Autozone and used it to clear the codes.
