Thanks, I definitely noticed contaminants that covered the fresh salt so a cleaning would definitely help.

During your units cycle, once the water has been added to the salt how long does it sit there before being pumped into the other tank?

Not sure how long it all sits in there for the cycle, but my old unit (heh) takes about 3 hours to regen. I typically have water in the brine tank at all times.

    Yeah like 6/7” or so?

I did a manual regen and it took over 6hours. The brine tank sat filled with water for 280 minutes before it was pushed through the other tank o_O

I need to do some research on how to reprogram the controller.

This aught to be fun. Removing efi and replacing with carborated engine. All wiring and plumbing needs to be changed as well.

Harness swapped out, engine installed and test ran. It must likes it's new home, it just purrs after I re packed the exhaust.

Still need to give it a choke cable as the EFI units have no choke.

    This unit turned out nice!

I'll do a video later explaining my reasonings and also show more detail on the process. I want to knock out the punch list this morning and put tools away 1st.

Fun times today. My JD 1830 old girl shudders when the loader arms are raised. I thought it might be time to change the hydraulic fluid and filter. Okay. Drained, cleaned the pre-filter screen (found some chunks of what looked like brake lining), re-installed the housing with new filter element (not a spin on variety). Fired it up and watched much leakage from the seal area. Hmm. Drained the new fluid into a clean pail for re-use.

I wondered why the element came with 2 gaskets...1 for practice it seems. With the second gasket I greased it and stuck it to the tractor! The housing then fits up, bolt tightened and voila, job done, no leaks, or at least no more than usual...it's old.

This time I wrote in the owners manual (page 75 all about changing transmission filter) to GREASE THE GASKET, APPLY TO TRACTOR, RE-INSTALL HOUSING AND FILTER! Should be my last time. 1000 hours interval, and I use it under 50 hours per year.

And it still shudders. The 3point hitch draught links on lifting, the loader arms on lifting. Any ideas?

Installed a choke. Looks fairly factory. Works perfectly.PXL_20230518_232845711.jpg PXL_20230518_232857325.jpg

I ended up swapping out the gas tanks on this project. Tanks had to be removed so I could flush the crap gas out. Figured it was same time to just switch tanks.

The EFI tanks have a supply and an overflow return from the fuel regulator. The carbed engine only needs a supply line off the bottom of each tank.

Leaving the EFI tanks in place was kind of sketchy in my opinion. Having plugs on the return lines looked kind of cobbled up. My OCD compeller me to change out the tanks.

I didn't like the looks of the return lines on the tanks, so I took 15 minutes to change out the tanks.

In addition, having the donor tanks free of the chassis, I was able to verify there was no crap in the tank.

After all, these are 15 year old units. There will be crap in the tanks.
