I fully support riding a small bike fast than a big bike slow. Its WAY more fun.

I happily got rid of my 919 even though it was way faster than the super tenere. The S10 is just so much nicer of a ride. I have the modded grom for around town and its great as well.

I was DEAD SET on moving from the 919 to an FJ-09/Tracer back around 2018/2019. Test rode one and was not a fan of the ergos which killed it for me unfortunatly. Being the same main chassis as the naked MT09 you have the slightly scrunched bottom half/legs but without the slightly leaned forward position with that complimented the naked bike position on the bottom. Also how the motor side cases stuck out I was hitting my shin alot.

The power and handling tho were amazing. Maybe If i get tired of the super tenere and want a little more sporty id look at that path again.

I've been doing a good job so far of avoiding riding any other bikes than mine, simply because I don't want to face this fact, despite knowing it to be true lol.

I'm happy with my liter bike DAMMIT

So it looks like what would cost me ~$170 from MNNTHBX can be pieced together for ~$50 from Amazon/eBay for the Navi's intake. Crazy how much parts are marked up.

Silicone tube and a proper uni 2 stage foam oiled filter will not only filter better but be way cheaper

I have an idea on how to make a support bracket (really the only fancy part of the MNNTHBX kit). I'm going to use a straight piece of aluminum and 3D print a piece to go around the silicone hose with a little tab to bolt to the aluminum bar. Check out my terrible Paint schematic:

When I was looking at it I thought it'd be cool to do an intake straight up under the seat, with a straight section and like a 45 degree kick up off the carb, then a shroud on the bottom of the air filter to protect it from wheel kick-up, and then use the plate mount bolts or the shock mount bolt for the support portion.

I thought most of the intake kits had a 90 degree turn to put the filter in the path of air? I think your way would look cleaner under the seat but not sure if air flow would be an issue.

I think they did that just to look cool. At the speeds the Navi is going there is zero ram air effect going on and I can't imagine it'd get starved of air under the seat. Plus the longer you can get the intake the better for low down torques-sake.

Makes sense! The other issue being the lack of a fender would cause some issues (as you pointed out).

That could work! Would have to ride the PW on a 45mph street though :rofl:or I could bust out the KTM and cross the creek and do a hill climb that is in-between us :bikewhoops:

Here is my yearly post about the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride... it's this Sunday, May 21st.

    https://www.gentlemansride.com/

It's worldwide and for good cause - to raise funds and awareness for men’s mental health and prostate cancer research. You can still register if you're interested, I think someone here said they're already signed up. I'll be doing the one in Philadelphia. It's a fun event and great opportunity to meet fellow riders in your area. (also you don't have to dress up or have a certain bike, in my experience at least)
