    Solid work dude!

Could look at getting the sliders sandblasted to eliminate rust fully and then coating them yourself.

I did think about that. I wonder where I might find a place that would sandblast those. I'll have to do some googling.

    I got you!

I'd suggest calling HY-TEC Coatings in Waukesha; I've used them 3-4 times for projects, old school and quality work.

If they don't sand blast, then I know of a local place in Hartland that would - DM me if needed.

I was quoted $200 minimum for a sand blast to clean up my bumper.

Sounds about right, that's in the ballpark of what the shop in Kenosha typically charges.

Hmmm... I don't think I'm going to pay that much. If it is $200 to sandblast a bumper, it's probably going to be $300 or $400 to sandblast a set of rock sliders. Maybe I'll double check, but that's too expensive for my cheap ass.

Try Fastlane in Ashland if you ever get up this way , last I knew Chris was charging like a hundred a hour for sandblasting. He also has a large oven 25x10x8 that will accommodate a lot of stuff to bake after powder coating.

I paid about that much to powder coat my Tacoma bumper from hy-tec. I just spoke with them out of curiosity and they do offer sand blasting, but would need to see the sliders to determine final cost.

As with most things, comes down to either a cost of your time+materials or someone else's.

I'll probably give them a call and see what they need in order to get me a quote. I'm all about considering the value of my time against the cost of having things done, so maybe it'll be worthwhile.

Good luck with that. When I placed my order with RCI they had a 4-6 week lead time, but I was told they may have them done sooner. Today marks 8 weeks.

RCI had them shipped and UPS freight scheduled delivery with me for last Wednesday and then lost them. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with UPS this morning and was told by one person that they couldn't locate them, but they should be at their Milwaukee center. Another person told me they found them and I should be getting a call to reschedule delivery. Still waiting on that call. They've got about another 30 minutes before I call them back and light a fire. Shipping cost around $340 for the damn things and I expected a little more competence and better customer service for that price!

I have one of those, actually works pretty well as long as you have a big compressor to keep up with it. Downside is you're going to blast (pun intended) through a ton of media unless you MacGuyver some way to recollect it off the ground (like rigging up a tarp or something to catch it).

Edit: As far as weighing your time vs. cost for someone else to do it, unless you really want to get into sand blasting it's almost always worth it to have another shop do it. I've owned almost every sand blaster that Harbor Freight has offered including the enclosed cabinet and nothing is as fast or economical as a commercial shop.

Indeed. What has changed, methinks, is the number of fucks given when it comes to simply doing the job that the customer paid for.

Just called the local center for TForce Freight (formerly UPS Freight) in Milwaukee and they confirmed that they don't know where the hell my sliders are. The lady I spoke with was as frustrated as I am and told me she's been personally searching for them and lit up their St. Louis hub for misrouting them.

She did tell me that I could come to their hub in Milwaukee, very close to my place, and just pick them up when/if they are found. Saves me from having to schedule another delivery and the $75 charge for a lift gate delivery.

I redid my sliders with POR 15. (Paint-Over-R ust. You tube it.) Maybe $100 total. I stripped the old paint and as much rust as practical with a wire wheel. It doesn't look the best, but the sliders survived winter. Moab, not so much.
    Comes in silver or black.
