For the condenser coils? Just cleane em once a year. Especially here in AZ. now UV for the Evap coils yea works. As they can be a PITA to clean. Especially older units where you have to remove the whole thing out of a closet somewhere.

 

Nah, 7 year old trane on the roof. Good unit and was pretty well maintained. It needs some TLC that the previous homeowners let pile up knowing they were headed to sale, so I'm paying for this round before going all DIY.

The pamphlet just mentioned all these benefits of air quality, odor reduction, blah blah blah that I just felt at surface level was for germaphobes and the financially-affluent and wasn't sure if it's all hype, or if it does the same thing that a higher-end return vent filter can do.

 

just change your filters. have mine inspected every season. guys shows me pic when i ask if coils need to be cleaned. he says no keep doing what you are doing. that is an easy sale and an honest hvac guy.

We have UV on our commercial unit. Can't say either way if it works.

Vacuum, dust, and mop your house.

Just make sure unit has overflow shutoff switch if drain line ever clogs up. That is about $120 installed.

Thanks for the confirmation, gang. To be fair, the HVAC worker didn't so much try and push it as much as offer it. Just figured I'd ask around before I tossed the pamphlet after spending some time on the googler (to the point above lol).
