The red line mt-lv fluid is probably the closest to the toyota stuff in there now.

Only thing I don't like about the Redline is the bottle. It is not a standard size cap so the pumps won't attach to it. I wish Amsoil made a 75W in an EZ Pack. I use their fluids for everything else and the EZ Pack made filling the diffs so easy.

Do you have any data to back up why Ravenol is “crappy”?

I wish someone made just a clean empty pack, no fluid. i would pour the transfer case fluid in it. i think the squeeze packs are better than the pumps.

Edit: i think i found something that might work

Race German - EZSqueeze3pack - EZ Squeeze Fillable Oil Pouch Kit - 3 Pack (ecstuning.com)

    Refill an old pack?

Hitting the pack with a shop vac to empty it out, and then refilling, should be fine. Even if there is a touch of fluid in there it won't be enough to mess up the new fluid.

Do the Diffs and then refill those packs.

thought about re-using an old pack. there is some residual fluid in there that i suppose could be left upside down in the sun and let gravity do its thing.

not sure i understand the recommendation to use a shop vacuum...?

If you put a vacuum on the bag it will pull out anything that remains, like getting all the juice out of a capri-sun. Anything that is left will be so insignificant it won't affect the new fluid.

The fluids are compatible, even if you don't vacuum the bag the tenth of an ounce or so that remains won't change the new fluid you put in the bag. I mean, I wouldn't use it for water, then brake fluid, then engine oil....but going from say Diff fluid to Transfer case would be perfectly fine, or really any lubricant to another.

Ravenol bottles have their own lift and pour spout, and hose, built into the bottle. the front diff was a little tough but, the rear and T-case were easy as a bag, with the Ravenol system. I even bought their pump thinking I would need it but, didnt use it. I will be using it, when I do the the 3 drain/fill on the Auto Transmission, shortly. Ski

I had a suspicion that was the case and knew Redline was pretty decent.

Where are you getting your info from? I am sure many people on here and elsewhere could say the same thing about Redline, and or Amsoil as well. Ski

Because I lived in Germany for 3 years, and most of the shops agreed that Ravenol was a crap oil. There just good at marketing. The ignorant folks here see, made in Germany, and think it must be good.

FYI, Amsoil is best, Redline is a close second. They are both too high of a cost, but when it come to a 3rd gen transfer case, Redline is great, and 1/3 the cost of OEM.

    IMO!

There is still no data in any of that. Shop technicians saying a specific oil is crap doesn’t really tell us anything. What is the reason they say it’s crap?
