My leaf spring’s finally flattened out and I hit the bump stops on things I definitely shouldn’t. Should I go aftermarket or buy replacement Toyota? 3rd gen leafs hold up better?

    Aftermarket would be better.
I don’t think there is a difference in rear spring rates on 2nd and 3rd gens.
I believe it was only the front springs that had a stiffer spring rate.

Negative on the 3rd gen springs holding up any better. I got about 1.5 years out of a set of brand new take-offs with minimal use of stuff in the bed.

I'd go aftermarket, order new ubolts. If you need any other hardware most dealers carry the fasteners in stock as needed.

General springs makes generic ones you can buy from part stores, also most leaf spring shops make light truck springs, so its worth calling around if you're near a leaf spring shop.

I got some of the stuff and a road map for the rest...
I just bought a set of Deaver U402 leafs for my '21 OR.

Stock springs just weren't holding up to my daily load and especially my camping load.

Oh, I like just NOW bought them online. Haven't even shipped yet! I did a ton of digging and it seems the way to go. $1100 if you got the money to spare otherwise get the Old Man Emu leaf packs if you want cheaper. That seems to be general consensus on TW.

My mechanic said don't waste money on add a leaf "I only want to take your money once, not again in a year when you realize you made a mistake" were his words regarding add a leaf.

Check out Icon RXT. cheaper than the Deavers, and customizable/ tuneable for your intended use.
*edit* comes with new u-bolts as well.
