I have a 2001 Regular cab prerunner 2WD with a bench seat that is starting to deteriorate on the drivers side. The truck only has 64k on it.

any ideas as to where I can get bucket seats to replace the bench seats as well as a center armrest?

The more general question I have is WHAT seats will fit in a 1st series Tacoma? I think there are three (?) types of seats: bench, 60/40, and separate buckets. So for those of us cruzing the salvage yards, does anyone know how much crossover exists for seat swaps among Tacoma years or series? Tundra? 4Runner?

Find OEM replacements, be prepared to fabricate/alter OEM sliders to fit other seats, or get aftermarket brackets or some combination.

I’ve been down this road a few times. First try got Subaru Crosstrek leather seats and welded the feet off my OEM sliders. Very comfortable but sat like an 1-1/2” too high, almost hit my head on the roof.
    CDC355C7-2F38-4488-8419-09FE632FE0CC.jpg
Altered how I could, most I could drop them was 3/4”, drilled out the seat stops to get better travel on the forward recline to access the backseat

Went to Corbeau brackets, better because they are close to the floor, still too tall.

Latest iteration Procar seats, got longest travel sliders I could find then had to alter the pulls to move the sliders in to fit the seat width54AF10BF-ED80-41BD-ABC4-E834C5135DA0.jpg 878BE3CA-7BE1-46CC-8801-F1D6651C7CED.jpg

Seats are ok, decent price, but not the best quality and not good access to the backseat, thus the need for longer travel sliders, probably not an issue with a reg cab. I’ve wanted Recaro seats for a while but they’re over a grand a seat.

If you can weld/fabricate you can make almost any small to midsize seat work but I’d recommend you measure and sit in the seats to see if they’ll fit.

Edit: You’ll also need to pay attention to seatbelt buckle mounting. Toyota and Subaru seats had buckle mounted to the seat, Corbeau bracket had a mount that needed to be altered, aftermarket seats I used didn’t have a mounting point.

    good info! thanks for sharing.

so does anyone know if there is a replacement foam/cover kit for toyota seats? that may be the easier way to go.

Sorry to be a pain but this subject has been discussed at length. First try a search on the subject to see if the info is already there.

I went with the corbeau bucket seats & frames for my daughter’s 2001. Only issue I have is the seat part isn’t long enough & sits a little high.

I’m looking to replace my 2003 base cab bench seat. The tie rods underneath the driver side have all snapped. Is it a hassle to buy and replace just the bench part (new)?
Rather than having to take it apart, would it be easier to just buy the complete bench seat? (Used if I can find a decent one in gray). Hard to find used at a reasonable price and not torn up.

I did Corbeau GTS II in my standard cab and made my own brackets. The mounts are already in the cab for 4th bolt on both sides but the carpet isn't cut out for it. I'm 5'8" and am comfortable about 2 clicks from touching the rear of the cab so it might not be a good fit for someone much taller.

No. I just went to their website & searched for my year make & model, if I remember correctly.

I had to retap 2 of the bolt holes, & a seatbelt hole, because PO had stripped them & had some dinky bolts in there that looked like the would snap in a blink.

I’ve got Recaro Trend seats. Recaro or Corbeau are great options for new aftermarket.

I always wanted a bench seat for road trips with the family. Does any new vehicle still do a front bench?
