Another area, and you have time for it today ... South Mountain Park. Find a map for it on Trailforks.com. You can enter the park on the south side (take I-10 east, 202 around the south side, my favorite trailhead in Pyramid accessed by 17th Ave exit off 202). There is technically an "out by 11 PM" limit, but as long as you do not bother the people living adjacent to the park you can be in 24 hours a day. Nice warm nights coming up for hiking/cycling/running after dark.

Will be out an about inside of 30 minutes, but PM if you want to talk at length about that park.

Yes, might be reason enough to stay down here and explore…

I put my TT into storage up in Flag a few days ago so it wouldn’t melt down here and then we can use it as an escape.

Welcome @mosccat This thread gets the most traffic for weekday meets to grab a beer and hangout for a few hours. The Bs thread sees more of the mod day meets and all. I think we are planning a memorial day trail run camp out aswell.

Still a plan but the trial will need to change..
We ran top to bottom this weekend and it was pretty knarly trial. 5 tough obstacles and one super unsafe sketchy part we probably shouldn't have driven.

I mean we can still camp in the spot and chill. There is a cool hike to some cliff dwellers ruins.? I'll bring some cornhole boards and a pop up for shade.. So as far as a wheeling trip to drive through is a no go. You can wheel to the sketcky part and turn around? We missed the warning sign on a white hood that said impassable for a truck... so we took two through and about died. Off camber on a shelf edge while the shelf is falling away. That was the Gold creek crossing. I dig that area, we can even take over Aztec peak in the trees? Big ass spot up there and can house everyone.

I am game for whatever and whenever. Just excited to get out with everyone for the first time of the season! And really excited to get the 4runner out to play with. She has been feeling neglected.

    Memorial Day Camp Out Update*
We can no longer drive safely through from the South to the North on Cherry Creek rd.
So the first camp spot is still open for a spot and has a cool 3 mile hike to some cliff dwellings for a day hike. We can still drive the trail a bit of the way and get the tries dirty. That also puts us camping a second night in the same spot due to there isnt much to choose from after the Devil Chasm location without making the sketchy pass at Gold creek.
    *Option 2
Aztec Peak on the other side of the mountain. Offers a big spot to camp and house many, also in the trees with shade. Drive up isn't challenging but can detour the minivans and big RVs for the weekend. Its gonna be busy everywhere and doesn't matter the spot to me at this point. I just wanna get out and have a good time.

If you plan on joining us and have a recommendation, chime in!

I like the idea of aztec peak because of the possibility of less people around. Are we looking at meeting saturday morning?

I bet top of Aztec (the good/go-to/OG spot) will be highly sought after.. so getting out there early will be key if that's the case. Otherwise.. Cherry Creek would still be cool. Or.. somewhere out near the rivers/lakes out that way.

I think so and would make sense, I'd like to scoot out Friday and get the spot locked down for us but depends on packing. There are only a few options up there without camping on top of other ppl if they are there.. Josh said he might be looking to go early as well? The tippy top has a bad ass spot but fully exposed. The lower spots are in the trees and are pretty large, Think I counted two or three

Agree, Aztec might be the sought after place. Cherry Creek has options and the drive to help detour ppl.. I think that whole area is the better of locations as far as where to go.

It can get that packed up there? I have never been so dont know what to expect.
I can be out of work anytime friday afternoon really. I will be packed up friday morning and ready to rock.
In my mind its the other way around. Figured cherry creek would be the location most people are headed. :notsure: Either way we are going to have a fucking blast.

Cherry Creek is a little more remote, Aztec Peak can be accessed right off the 288. That place Isaac and i camped few weekends ago was cool. The road to the spot was rough and you have to flex pretty good to make it back there. Again no cover and exposed all day.
