Now that I know this is a thing I'll keep an eye out for it next year and schedule my vacation accordingly at work.

All it really takes is starting a thread for the dates you want to go, and you'll get a group to come with you.

Heck yeah! Where you coming from? I'll add you to the list!

For those of you following along at home - we got in touch with Brookfield Renewable Energy and confirmed which bridge will be out, and will plan accordingly. Our route wasn't going over it, anyway, but our route is also not gospel/set in stone yet! BUT we know about it!

Ooh, definitely following this thread, I was just rolling around the idea of planning a trip up to NMW. Would be hugely beneficial if I could join you guys my first time out there. I’m not a stranger to remote backpacking/camping, but new to logging roads and there’s lots of strength/confidence in numbers.

I’ll see how the girlfriend feels about it, I finally got her bit by the camping bug, and have been dying to pick up one of those Napier bed tents and do some fun truck camping. Either that or a hard shell.

:spy: I'll add you to the list of confirmed, we'll see you there! :D

Yeah definitely - we won't be heading up toward Caribou/Ashland this time, unfortunately. The road from Ashland toward the trains is fantastic, some great views too. But this is definitely a good trip to get your feet wet. I will have a spare 5gal but don't expect to be below 1/2 tank between fuel stops. I think our biggest hurdle will be finding camping sites, if we have all trucks show up. :|

But yeah these big trips are awesome - get to see a bunch of different and creative approaches to the same goal, and get inspiration on your plans.

PS to all - I say the hurdle will be campsites, we'll make it work - I wouldn't worry. I am not worried about the gates, since we'll be on top of that. We fill out the forms and collect $$$/check ahead of the gate, we show up with a stack of paper and hand them off to the lead, we don't all go up (especially with 14-15 trucks  )

haha not confirmed just yet, but definitely a strong maybe. Just realized it’s both my nieces’ birthday week down in GA. But I’ll probably be visiting them sooner than that anyway.

Looking forward to it, really hope I can attend and meet y’all!

That maybe just got stronger. I’m about 90% in, barring anything else coming up. Girlfriend is on the fence about such a “long” trip but I think she’ll come around after a couple more short outings. Is the Sunday bailout still an option? That may be the bit that sways her lol.

I found this thread a few days ago AFTER I got the previous week off from work. As I was planning on going to that area for a few days, I'll make sure to get rid of all the black flies for y'all. Can't guarantee anything about the deer and moose flies, though.
