OK so I haul heavy loads occasionally. With the install of blue sumo springs so easy (don't even have to remove wheels) is there any reason to not install sumo prints besides the cost?

If you cant/dont want to install a leaf replacement then there is nothing wrong with sumo springs bc the do help with fishtail and hauling heavier loads.. I ran the blue ones and an AAL before i eventually went with full leaf pack upgrade

They work great. Much easier to remove tires for install. Make sure you get 3rd gen Sumos, 2nd gens are taller and will ride frame full time. 612 series are 3rd gen shorter.

I have the Timbren version. I have had them on Tacomas since 2008. Quite happy. Timbrens come with a money back if not happy.

Sumo's do the job as advertised. I added Headstrong 3leaf aals and sumo's for load leveling (bed full of camping gear and 170lb tongue weight from camper) - perfectly level, and even when not loaded it rides fine.

I absolutely love my blue sumos. No downsides whatsoever.

Any chance you could post a photo? Just one side would be appreciated.

Also, I have a canopy that weighs about 160ish pounds. I did not measure before but based on what I read, it likely lowered the rake by 1/2 inch or so. Will this cause the frame to constantly be in contact with the Timbren spring?

I see your point. For me, installing air bags was a pretty big job and I had to ask a friend to help. The sumos are so so much easier for me to install. This is me, not super wrenchy like some of you

I have the blue Sumos. Easy install, no change in ride, help with the squat when towing my TT.

    I don't have a photo.

I have a 175 pound truck cap and a horse stall mat in my bed. So about 200 pounds. The Timbren is not in contact. About 3/4" below the frame.

The Timbrens do come in contact when I load my 700 pound camper though. It is progressive. I find the ride fine with the camper and Timbrens.
My springs are almost flat then. But return to the unsprung arch and Timbren below frame by 3/4" .

I avoided airbags due to the maintenance potentially needed in the rust belt. Timbrens are maintenance free and I have installed all the Timbrens myself in a few Tacomas.

I’m not who you asked but I have a pic and crappy video if you’re interested. The video is a 15 min ride around the neighborhood and going over speed humps. It’s paired with Ironman Foam Cell pros and their medium duty leaf pack.

I have front and rear Sumo's on a 2nd generation. I put them on myself, impact wrench to get the old U-bolts is a great help. I have never regretted it the purchase. If I ever bought a new Tacoma, these would be on as quickly as possible.

I put the blue ones on mine a few years ago before I had to pull a U-Haul from Monterey. They're basically transparent and you never know they're there. The only time you can actually feel them is going over speed bumps, where they are definitely harsher than without.
