Replacing the tensioner could be a good preventative maintenance item (I think others have had them snap over time? Especially the stock ones)

The tensioner idler is definitely normal threads.

Hey you have supercharger, would you be interested in the upgraded studs group buy?

I was referring to the engine tensioner, not the s/c tensioner.

I'm going to replace the idler, not the tensioner. It hasn't been giving me any problems, so I will run it a while longer.

I'm thinking the same. Right now I'm further into dismantling a vehicle under the hood than I've ever gotten before, what with the fan, both belts, and supercharger tensioner removed. To remove the engine idler tensioner I'd have to remove the ac compressor and alternator and that's just several bridges too far for me at the moment.

Looking through this thread for the first time as I wait for my supercharger to be delivered. Quite the list of mods and trying to figure out what's crucial to install. What mods would people rate as important enough to install at the same time as the supercharger? And then, what's optional, but worth doing? So far I have as necessary: fuel pump upgrade, afr guage, smaller pulley (2.8 or 2.9 to minimize other requirements). Optional and minor benefit: CAI, headers, exhaust. Do I have my priorities right?

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
I'd add a boost gauge and exhaust cam gears for your first wave. How will you tune it? HP Tuners is the way.
Then start CAI and decide on the direction of the exhaust; shorties with OEM cats unless Race Truck, better flowing Y-pipe, 2.5" cat back exhaust unless you plan going real big then go 3".

Someone shared it to me. Gonna pass for now as it’s too rich for my blood and I barely drive the truck anyways. But thanks for checking.

Fuel pump before anything. That will give you too. To grow and will never be a source of issues down the road. Then studs, a Qwikchange pulley (go with Smoothflow), an RPM belt, might as well do the cam gears since you'll be in there installing everything, and then you can focus on things like exhaust (very important as the stock stuff is highly restrictive to boost), a CAI, and eventually if you ever step down to a 2.7 pulley you will need to get the valve body upgrade kit either by Ratiotek or you will need to get it done by a shop. Hook it up with the FPR mod as that gets you a notable gain in pep confirmed by others and myself regardless of if you have the fuel pump or not.

As far as all the go fast stuff goes, you will need a way to get it properly tuned to optimize the amount of power it is capable of and as always I highly recommend to you HPTuners. You can either tune it yourself or @JustDSM can take care of it for you for a small nominal fee and you'll be good to go from there.

There was a glitch in the matrix though because I'm at least 6 seconds slower than what was recorded.

Was planning to use the included tune and then bring it somewhere to be professionally done after swapping the pulley and and other mods. It would be nice to have full control and be able to modify the tune after changing any components, but have never tuned a vehicle before so seems kind of daunting. For people using HPTuner are you doing it yourself and what's the learning curve for the software?

I bought a 2nd ECU and had @JustDSM install the tune on it...just swap it in when the supercharger goes on and I have a stock ECU as a backup.

Just FYI since I did the same… the stock ECU won’t do so well if you don’t also go back to the stock injectors.

My original ECU was flashed by Toyota to the TRD tune and I bought a spare ECU that also has the same base tune. I had the VIN matched on the spare ECU and will use it for tuning and leave the original ECU as a spare if I ever need to go back to original for some reason.

What about 2.39 seconds to 60? I guess that's "quick" and not "fast" but it couldn't accelerate that quickly if I dropped it off a cliff. When I get on the freeway by the airport it does weird things with my GPS...my only guess is that's what was happening.
