It would've been part of Wisconsin, but Michigan got it when they lost land to Ohio back in 1835-36.

40 or 50 years ago they tried to make the U.P. the 51st state, they wanted to call it Superior.

Thanks for the education on this. But again, I didn't have a choice on how or with whom it was being shipped. RCI set that up, and I don't blame them for this mess. They are aware of the situation and if the sliders aren't found by Friday we'll be having another chat about what's next.

I don't really know that it was on a pallet, but assumed an awkwardly shaped 225 lb package would be most easily moved around if it was. Honestly I don't care. The shipper had one job - get the product from A to B undamaged and on time as agreed upon with the customer. They fucked up their job, and the more I talk with them the quicker I'm losing patience. I've been as pleasant and understanding as I can be with them, but I have my limits.

Mine were in separate boxes for each strapped to a pallet FWIW. Ideally UPS shouldn't have unpalletized them but who knows.

I feel your pain as I am regularly on the receiving end of international shipments at work. International logistics is a real mess right now. Nothing like the fun of tracking a needed package on a flight from Europe only to watch the shipment languish in customs in Chicago.

Well @rubbersidedown if it makes you feel any better, I'm experiencing shipping woes too.

Ordered two Hallowell steel wall cabinets from Zoro to go over my work bench in the garage; I've heard good things about both. They are the wrong cabinets/part number, arrived heavily damaged, and rusty at the seams - I've had international packages arrive in better shape, and these were just from Illinois.

Guess we'll see how good their refund policy is.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
T-Force and XPO seem to be in a bidding war lately to keep busy as freight has dropped off considerably the last few months. The results haven't been very good, from what some of my customers tell me.

I don't doubt RCI went the route they went because of price quotes, very common in LTL, and they won't give you the option as most people have no knowledge of how freight works anyways. Victory 4x4 wouldn't ship my bumper with us as they get too good of a deal with UPS Ground but they did work with me and had it shipped to my terminal to save me the liftgate charge since they realized I knew what I was talking about.

It doesn't happen often, but occasionally, one of our dock guys will scan a pallet, enter which trailer it went on and then accidentally put it on the trailer next to the one they intended or enter the wrong trailer. Often they catch themselves but sometimes they don't. Still, the next time that item is unloaded, it should be scanned, which would give the PRO number a location. I have seen it take a couple of days sometimes for the error to be fixed. In the mean time, the item has sat on someone's dock and nobody has questioned why this package hasn't moved in a couple of days. Our dock supervisor is pretty good, and will usually start a trace on something if it's been on the dock for more than 12 hours.

If your sliders got put on the wrong trailer in STL, they could be anywhere from FL to ME. Who knows, RCI could even get them back tomorrow! (I've heard of that also!) Hope they figure it out soon. Pipeline is coming up soon...

    LOL!

i was kinda surprised - the units were just put in a cardboard box with the shelves, doors, and hardware loose inside. If they weren't damaged before, that's a good way to ensure they will be in transit.

If you end up having to have RCI send you another set of sliders and the old ones somehow make it to you, I'll take them off your hands, provided RCI doesn't find out.:stirthepot:

LTL drivers are also VERY impatient in my experience. All of the LTL drivers we deal with here at my job leave if they aren't loaded in 5-10 minutes. They're even worse if my guys are on break and they know it's going to be at least 20-30 minutes, they wont even back in the door. They just leave and come back later in the week. I just think to myself, I'm glad it's not me waiting for this product and expecting it to come a certain day just to not get it because you refuse to wait 10 minutes.

    THIS! LOL!

I know mistakes happen. You're right that most consumers don't know anything about freight shipping and given choices you'd confuse them (me) further. I trust RCI in their decision. On the other hand, a nice T-Force lady I spoke with today told me we may have to contact RCI and have another shipped out. Uh, sorry, I waited 2 months for them to make these for me. Doubt they're going to be able to whip out another set overnight. "Oh, this has got to be frustrating for you!"

I'll keep waiting for now, and like you said, eventually someone will trip over the package enough times to ask about it. :)

My understanding is that the UP was supposed to be part of WI but the Union needed the iron ore for the Civil War effort and didn't want to wait until WI could be brought into the Union, so, it was annexed to MI. And now, they (the Yoopers) are too stubborn to correct the error.

HA! Well, they're double-cab long bed sliders. Looks like you have a short bed. They would need some modifications...
