Definitely would not going from a DD to a toy. It may very well be a good toy,, but forever will be just that.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I daily a 30yr old 80 series Land cruiser and I'll say it surprises a lot of people with how well mannered it is for its age. But it is not a modern vehicle, no airbags, zero crumple zones, no electronic intervention to cover up your poor driving ability, no weight rated rollover roof... It's old, even if up fitted. I love it for that but for folks that are used to new it's not an easy concession to make for a daily.

An LC as a daily? That's easy to do.

But it's definitely not for everyone, just like a Corvette.

I currently own both a FZJ80 and a Tacoma TRD Off Road. I love them both, but I wouldn’t trade one for the other. (Full disclosure, the 80 is really my wife’s truck)

I guess I’m saying get married.

They can typically get you the best parking spot where others won't bother parking

Plenty people daily drive older vehicles; maybe said vehicles are just older than you?

i mean, not saying an older truck is a bad thing, went from a 1990 truck to my 09
but prior to that was in a 2011 subaru outback for a while. all depends on preference. heck my nephew was in a 95 Tacoma, and jumped with cash when I said I was going to sell my 90 truck.

Restomod is when you want an old car but don’t like that it’s old so you waste money to totally ruin it.

The people who rebuilt the LC, is the warranty (if any) transferrable to you if you bought it?
    All things considered, hard pass...

My 80 will outlive the Tacoma, for me I had no intention of ever keeping the Tacoma but have every intention of keeping the 80. That said I dont DD it, I have 4 other cars I can drive if needed.

The 92 imho even with a 5.3L is undesirable and while a shop may be "reputable" you are mostly on the hook to make all future repairs. Professional 5.3L Swaps are going for about $25k now, which can be done by a DIYer for half that. I do not see $60k in the photos.

At most I would pay maybe pay $35k for it assuming its a reputable shop with a brand new crate motor and tranny. If it's a donor then I wouldn't even consider it. but I wouldn't trade or lose a vehicle for it.

Well if the guy has 60K invested that makes the rig worth at least 25K... but only to someone that really, really, really, really, really wants an older vehicle that's been built to satisfy the BUILDER's wish list.

I say go for it. It's only money, right? Strangers you will never see again will think you're really cool.

You missed the most important part lol. Chevy LS swap!

OP, go for it! Life is short. Drive what you want. Negotiate a good price. If you ever get sick of it, you can always get another Tacoma, they’re like sand on the beach. 4th gen will be out soon, with some actual improvements and updates this time, so all these 3rd gens will become instantly outdated too.

I have a 91 Land Cruiser all original (straight 6) with 190K miles. It is a great truck and never breaks down but does need constant maintenance. I would not have it as a daily as sometimes parts take time to find and get shipped. I would not buy a rig that has heavy mods as keeping up with repairs would be a lot of work to track down parts. Recommend keep your truck as a daily.

Just a short story on daily driver reliability. Bought a 2023 Tacoma and on day three went to get in to drive to work. Well one tire was totally flat (scew in it), so guess what, had to drive the 1991 Landcruiser, she never let's me down....
