I'm thinking about using a piece of rubber to go in between the two spots I cut.

That should work, I usually split old heater or radiator hoses and put around things to keep them from rubbing but I have a ton of that stuff laying around from changing then at the shop.

I'd probably use that and some hose clamps to keep things snug.

A piece of hose like a coolant or fuel line hose will work.
Then use clamp to hold it in place. I’d say that will be good enough.

I put her back together and no faults. She runs really good and finally goes into 5th gear!

Thanks again for all the help.

Nice, glad it's all good to go again. Hopefully the rodents will leave it alone now lol.

So my truck has been great for the last two weeks but threw a P0430 Code: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2) code. I cleared the code and it came back a day later and she runs good. I've read other posts saying dirty MAF sensor or 02 sensor but I figure I would start here. Also, I don't think I'm getting the best of fuel mileage but it's much better than before. Thank you

Unfortunately if there are no exhaust leaks upstream of the cat or near the o2 sensors P0420/430 codes most of the time are the catalytic converter itself, you can typically see how the converters are functioning by looking at the downstream O2 sensors. Warmed up driving they should both be pretty steady in the 0.6-0.8v range, if they are consistently switching low to high and high to low then the converter has lost it's efficiency and the PCM will flag a code.

Here's a capture showing normal operation, you can see the upstreams switch constantly and the downstreams are fairly steady on a good functioning system.

Is this something my scanner will show in real-time? I'm guessing I would replace both cats if it's not a leak upstream?

If it can do graphing, yes you can pull up your upstream and downstream AFR/O2 sensors and graph them to see how the cats are performing.

Toyota uses OAT coolant. See if that jug is that kind. Color doesn’t matter. There is no standard on coolant color.

I have graphing on my scanner and ill see how they're performing. Should I even bother with aftermarket cats?

If you can afford OEM I'd go OEM, aftermarket ones are hit or miss.
We have had to warranty so many aftermarket ones lately it's crazy.
