    Not to sound rude.

But you are kind of getting what you are “paying for”. I’d gladly pay for a high priced correct diagnosis. Beats a low priced wrong diagnosis.

No you're right. I wasted a lot of money with no results. It's still getting the P219a error code. When I got my tune up a few months ago, I replaced all the plugs, and only coil for cylinder 2 since that was the error I was getting it for. Do you think if I would have replaced all the coils, I wouldn't be having this problem?

    Quick update.
After thinking it was from my fuel filter being clogged that was causing the majority of my problems(I don't think I had ever changed it since I owned the truck since 2018), upon having my guys do it for me, it turned out that my fuel filter is unserviceable. So my mechanic gave me this product that cleans out the whole fuel system, when mixed with a tank of gas...I forget what the name of it was, but it is supposed to be very powerful. So now with barely 1/4 of that new tank mixture used, I am already noticing a difference in everything. I am not having hard start ups anymore, albeit I can still feel it struggling a little bit at first morning starts. My idle is still a bit rough upon first start in the morning, especially cold mornings, but not nearly as bad as it originally was. And I am not getting misfires when driving so far. As I said, the tank is only 1/4 gone, so hopefully once I used the full tank, everything will be taken care of? Could it be that an unchanged, or untreated fuel filter over the last 5 years had been the problem the whole time?

UGH...bit the bullet and paid for a diagnostic from the dealership. :ballchain: Valve job, floating rocker arm. Only 54000 original miles on this truck, this shouldn't happen!

I have to agree with you that it shouldn't happen. It doesn't happen often to these Toyota's but doesn't mean it never happens. Sorry to hear that. What is the damage? :spending:

Every place I checked here in West San Diego wanted at least $4000, when reading the Toyota writeup, and said I wouldn't have my truck for 2 weeks. Luckily I found a place less than a mile from where I live, been around for 28 years and never knew about them, and they specialize in this type of work. After reading the writeup, looking under my hood(from what he could see just from an eye's view), he said around $2000(most likely), and I would have my truck back in a week.

Floating rocker arm? Was this lifter related?

I don't know. It's all Dutch to me. I guess the rocker arm was detached and was just 'floating' there, not doing any good? They actually took it out and gave it to me. Everywhere I talked to, before the place I found, said they didn't need it when I showed it to them. It was about an inch in length, maybe slightly less?
Whatever the case, my truck still drove, even without it, albeit I was getting multiple error messages, cylinder 1,2, and 3 misfires, and the same fuel ratio imbalance one too. Didn't want to chance it, so I just ponied up the $$ I didn't have, and took care of it.....hopefully by the end of the week.

One of these guys? You definitely want all of those in there or your valve won’t open and close there. Hopefully they get you taken care of!97B2A025-AA18-45FA-A347-42194F54CB12.jpg

Will do, thanks. And I'll give a good review/recommendation for the shop if it all works out. Great price, and honest shop...at least by reviews already submitted.

Just out of curiosity, what would cause a rocker arm to detach and 'float'? The guy said he would have an answer for me, but just thought I'd chew on your guys' brains to see what you thought? I do remember when I drove it down from Portland Oregon in 2018, it had 17,500 miles on it to start my ownership of the truck. When I was starting to accelerate on an onramp to the I-5 just before Shasta, it kinda bogged a little bit. It was enough to catch my attention, but nothing more. I don't remember seeing any error messages on the dash board, like I have recently. So it felt like it had trouble engaging into the lower gear to move faster onto the onramp to get on the freeway.
