Turkey hunting and BS welcome!

Out every day this week . Naps in the afternoon. I am so tired right now I can’t stand it . Almost got number 2 on Monday . Only 30 yards but to my off side and had a bunch of brush in the way . He flew down and landed right there walked away from me after gobbling at my decoys . Next day I set up further down the field edge the way the Tom went the day before . Wouldn’t you know it 3 Toms flew down on the opposite side of the field . Came up to the highest spot in the field looked at my decoys from a couple hundred yards and walked the opposite direction. Very windy yesterday. Today ….. never heard a gobble . Sat on that field edge ( no decoys today) from 4:45 until 8 am then put on a couple miles calling here and there and sitting ,not one gobble today . Back at it tomorrow in a different area

At least you are still in turkeys. Hang with it friend, luck will turn soon enough. They always favor the high spot in a field here too.

 

Don't recall if I've posted any of this stuff here before, sorry if I already have. I do 2-4 fan wing mounts every year around this time for family or friends. Mostly "firsts" for youths these days. All custom hand made by me, each plaque unique.


Also did some state fan mount plaques for another fella a couple years back, one mocked up with fan/beard/spurs below.

I had this done a couple years ago . The beard board is separate . I hope to get a full turkey mount someday .

 

Those mounts look great. I just paint political signs brown or grey and spread the fans out and hang them in my shop.

Slept in today . Hunted every day this week and my back is killing me .

 

I wish I didn't understand that feeling as well as I do.

30 years on a garbage truck or on a piece of heavy equipment has not done my back any favors. I can't complain I'm in better shape than most of the 50 year old I know. I can't do any of the hemp or cbd creams because they are not fda regulated so there is no guarantee that there is no thc in them. The feds have a 0 tolerance policy with cdl drivers. My wife uses cbd creams I would love to use. I'm lucky enough I can still do core exercises to strengthen those areas, I know a lot of people can't.

The hemp extract in this is pressed from the seeds . Really no chance of CBD or THC . Plus it’s far down on the ingredient list . CBD is pressed from the flower ( bud) of the female plant ,that’s where you might get some THC . You could use a gallon of this and never fail a urine test .

 

Can’t wait to get back in the woods tomorrow after a 3 day break .

 

Never heard a gobble this morning. Just this hen hanging around .
