How to mount rear remote resi – 1st Gen

I can mount them piggyback style, the shocks come with little rubber spacers and clamps to do that. But I would prefer to mount the resi on the frame. I was curious about how others have mounted theirs.

The shock mounts are in the stock location so I’m thinking if I want to mount these on the frame I’ll have to do it on the inside of the frame rail but not certain about this.

I piggybacked mine, the braided line on my icons was very tight to do the piggyback though.

 

Thanks for the feedback on your ICONs Munkel. Seems like the ICON kit comes with some sort of mounting braket, is it a piggyback only mount?

 

the mount for the icons is exactly the same as those Fox's, just the rubber pieces and some hose clamps. I really didn't like bending the line so much to piggyback but I couldn't figure anything else out at the time. Adrian from Icon told me to loop the line over the top of the shock if that makes sense.

 

Did you loop it like the Fox shock in this pic?

 

no, that looks better than what I do for flow though, I looped directly over the top of the shock....the icons I had made it real hard to mount to the body compared to the new ones they have now. pic of mine below... before I mounted them, no pics mounted.

 

Yeah, it looks like the way the line comes out of the shock is slightly different between the two brands. It also looks as though the connecting line might be a bit longer on the Fox too. Not really sure on that point.

 

I think it is, mine were a real bitch, I think the fox's will be easier to piggyback or remote mount.

 

I think some of my misunderstanding about the ICONs stems from this pic. It shows a very interesting frame mounting bracket. Thats why I was surprised when you mounted piggyback. But you didn't get one of those brackets. Upon a closer look, this is a 2nd gen shock.

 

I might try and score a few of those brackets if they would work with 1st gen shocks, I do not like the line being so tight on mine with the piggyback....

 

Are you going to hit up ICON for some? They must have them, why else would they be in that pic.

 

I'm sure they have them just not sure they will fit my resi's. I may try and find out.

 

I am not certain but aren't they 2" in diameter. Pretty sure that part is the same for 1st and 2nd gen versions of their shocks.

 

Is it possible to mount the remote reservoir on the frame by the wheel? Ive never seen it on a 1st gen taco. thx for the reply
