Wow…bit bummed there is no more access cab. They finally make a decent utility cab storage area, and they make it a bitch to get to. Seems like a step backwards. Spent years fighting putting in, getting out gear bags and totes out of my 1st Gen Extra Cab. My 3rd Gen AC is shear joy for tossing stuff in, use it on a daily basis.

Makes me want to go buy a 2023 AC, and stick in storage for when my ‘21 finally dies. That or the next truck is a F-Series Super Cab.

One of the Tacoma engineers said the air damn was easy to remove. 9 bolts.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I'm feeling really disappointed. All I really wanted was a forced induction/hybrid option and more comfortable seats and they had to overcomplicate it and put a gazillion gimmicks in it that are for sure going to break. Shocks in the seats? When I'm off-roading I constantly am thinking "I wish I had a million cameras and shocks in my seats so off-roading would no longer be challenging or bumpy". I never thought I was going to say this but I'm sticking with my 3rd gen.

The suicide doors make for a very heavy cab, because there's no B-pillar, so the access door has to take side-impact and seatbelt forces. Toyota likely saved 200 lbs deleting those doors.

At least the seat folds flat:

It looks like no pre production off roads have been made because they used a cgi one in the Toyota promo video. Also the fucking air dam being on the off road is ridiculous. Air dams on trucks keep getting lower and lower and more hideous. The new superduty looks equally ridiculous with the air dam.

Bonus for payload. Not so much for convenience.

Seat folding flat is about useless, at least Ford has a work area option in the console on their fullsizes. I almost bought a Ford over my Tacoma. Toyota ruined my favorite cab configuration. That alone may push me to Ford for the next truck purchase.

I do sit in my truck and do paperwork, this is much better than that folding seat.

My current totally stock, non-lifted truck is illegal in AZ, since the minimum distance from the bottom of the splash guard to the road is 8” there, mine are 11”. Good thing I don’t live there anymore. :)

It is! Looks like damn near endless features. Lots and lots of little shit to break. Bit overwhelming…almost makes me want to restore a basic Land Cruiser with a mechanical diesel…

Toyota definitely surprised us with lots of goodies today and the biggest one was dropping everything a day early according to various peeps inside info and guesses.
