I just got a call from Toyota. They said I am entitled to a free ANNUAL inspection for 15 year from the date of purchase on my 2001 Tacoma. If the frame is rotted or perforated, they will replace the frame un until 2016.

The UNDERCOATING Toyota uses has NOT been approved for use in NY State. If I want that, I have to drive to another state and get it done there, free of charge. Forgot to ask if this can be done in a single day or would I have to leave it there and come back.

Nice! I hope I get the call because my 2007 is already showing some rust. Fix it or wait for them to acknowledge? Hmmmm...

i still want to take it in to get inspected because it looks pretty rusty

oh and the frame recall is only on the 98(approx)-04 Tacomas...not the 05+

The FREE undercoating was new to me. I had to find it on my own as they never contacted me. Single owner vehicle also. Undercoating NOT approved for NY State. Must be an environmental issue or something?

Took mine to Toyota of greer today and they offered to replace my frame. I didnt know that it was bad until my spare tire fell out while i was on the highway. I have an 03 extended cab with 80000 miles and the frame looks like it was in the ocean for a year.

I have four spots showing rust. This is NH and the truck is garaged over night in the winter. The spots are in the rear under the bed. Two on the outside of the frame and two on the inside.

The recall is only for 01-04 for the replacement. The earlier ones 95-00 i believe were bought back by toyota for 150% of bluebook value. I live in sc and my truck was originally from nh Toyota of keene.

    WOW,

    deep confusion on this AGAIN....

TW has a STICKY at the top of this section ....IF you were the original OWNER Toyota had the responsibility to tell YOU to get inspected...then you were told A) qualify for BUY-OUT ( certain years ONLY) or B) the re-frame/spray treatment ( certain years again)....

Yes , some of us have had GREAT experiences while others have had to endure STUPID BUT TOYOTA is trying to right a WRONG at their expense...

IF you DO NOT trust your DEALER, ....find another and also go to the TOYOTA site, put in your V.I.N. and see what recalls affect your TACOMA...

I guess I'm still lucky in that the station that inspects my truck once a year( NH law) ALSO checks for recalls and TSB's when they enter the VIN..;)

    Just a note...

The frame rust is for INTERNAL rusting of the frame. Just because it looks good on the outside, doesn't mean its good.

Did the VIN lookup and under the frame inspection recall it said this...

"This is a Limited Service Campaign. Please contact your Toyota dealer and make an appointment to have your Tacoma's frame inspected and a corrosion-resistant treatment applied before 10/31/2010."

Does anyone know if this Recall is still valid since its past 10/31/2010?

Just scheduled an appt. at dealership for the lower ball joint too
