Another gimmick. Lots of gimmick in that little-engine truck

It's a pretty busy design, but the grille doesn't look as huge as before, so that's a win. Kind of excited to see how the little 4 cylinder does.

I mean, they really tried to give buyers a bunch of options. I give them credit for that. I like the look of the truck. It does sort of resemble the new Colorado in styling. I think both trucks are maybe a bit busy or trying too hard in the styling department. But they are still nice-looking trucks. I'm not understanding why the TRD Offroad has that low-slung front skirt. That shouldn't be on there, it doesn't make sense. As that will still probably be the most popular trim level for enthusiasts who like to customize through the aftermarket. Trail-hunter is a cool package. Not sure if it's my style, but it is a nice option. Interior is pretty sweet. I never really liked when the brands just basically look like they sat a tablet on the dash and called it a day. I wish there was a little more creativity on how they integrated that but just a small complaint. No idea what is going on with the seats in the Pro. That is just weird. Overall, pretty cool. The 3rd gen is pretty old-school in comparison, but that isn't really a bad thing. Each gen sort of has it's own character about it and this one certainly seems like the 1st time that Toyota went with an approach to make it modern and have the fancy options and gadgets. These days, you almost have to do that though, so I get it.

standard turbo 4cyl has the same HP and a little better TQ.

need the hybrid option for it to truly "outpower" the current v6

I just hope reliability is there with the turbo. That air dam is massive!

Not sure how I feel about this. I love the interior but not the colored interiors. The front end of the offroad/sport looks way too blocky.

I’m very excited to see these driving around. I’ll keep my 3rd gen 2.7l for a while but amped to see how the turbo 4 handles. Only issues I have is the AC no longer has doors you can open, kinda a weird move seeing how useful the doors are and the other is the large screen that sticks above the dash bugs me but thing that’s an upgrade is skip. Definitely alot of sweet options.

Can't please everyone but God damn, I love it! Pro would be my go to. Love the red interior pieces and black roof! For what I'm going to pay, it better have a chiseled and sculpted body and not some bland lookin' box lol! My only complaint is Toyota not having a v6 as an option but overall, I love it.

Apparently the iforce max makes peak torque at 1700 rpm as well which is huge.

I agree. For how much time and money you would spend making all those upgrades to an OR, I think the ease of buying the truck with everything you likely need is less overwhelming for folks.
My 16 OR had OME shocks and they were amazing. Love that they are part of ARB and the Trailhunter build.

Yeah, I am curious about some of these MT features. But, man, I wish they spent more time on the shifter knob. They could have done a way nicer job matching it to the aesthetics. Jeep and Bronco Manual shifters feel good and are appealing in the interior.

I noticed they painted the upper half of the white trucks a different color, homage to all my super white paint flaking tacos around the windows

In the toyota video I am surprised to see the xtra cab SR one has leaf springs?

Not wild about the interior look but I think it is designed very well and I like how everything is laid out in an organized way.

Definitely a fail, to the point that I'd rather have a regular cab with the benefits of a smaller foot print and wheelbase. I had an AC Tacoma from 09-15 and a KC Frontier from 15-23. I use the rear doors all the time. The jump seats have been useful and easily fold out of the way in both trucks.

Side note, I'm curious if the Pro simply uses Tundra hardware (UCA/LCA, tie rods, CVs, rear axle) to achieve the extra track width or if it's proprietary stuff. Has me thinking about the Frontier's ability to be "Titan swapped".
