    Looks nice.
I have an access cab now and am not a huge fan of 4 doors. Looks like the "Xtra" cab configuration has no functioning doors to get to the rear area. That can be a PIA getting things in and out of the rear area.
Wonder what the basic Trail Hunter package goes for.
Probably would have to sell off the Taco AND the F'n'J to get one.

It's so helpful on my F-150. I run into a lot of situations where I'm on a snowy/icy side road turning uphill onto a salted road. Can't move in 2WD, but 4H will bind if you try to turn on pavement and won't always disengage quickly enough to avoid that. It's also nice when moving a trailer on a wet lawn without tearing it up.

My truck's 4H and 4L are really just 100% duty to the clutch. The Raptor's 4H/4L modes take the clutch out of the equation and mechanically lock it like a conventional part time system - probably to address durability concerns. This might be what Toyota already does on their few models that have it - I haven't looked into it too much.

I know I don't know more than an entire company's team for marketing, sales, and engineering.

But there's just so much going on. Slap a body panel here, slap a trim piece here, slap some fenders here, slap some extra stamping here, slap some extra faux panels here, slap some extra trim pieces here, slap some extra lights here, slap some vinyl here. It's just busy.

My bet - next to none. They're going to new body panels, and a new frame (I think) with 4x coil sprung. Wheels/tires, maybe some front suspension, and some bed stuff (they probably kept the bed similar enough that tonneaus, maybe caps work together. But even the 2nd -> 3rd gen changed the tailgate geometry so they aren't 100% 1:1)

Yeah its kinda the same problem I have with the tundra, there's a lot going on for the sake of going on. Half that shit would get scraped off by the time I was done with it (if I had one :anonymous:). 400 something ft/lbs of torque does sound really nice though...

To be honest with you, i like my third generation. I wonder how many people are going to drain their bank accounts to get a 4th generation and jump ship from their present trucks. I'm staying put.

Ooooo, finally getting around to reading it.

    > an improved wide-track TRD Pro
    I'm intrigued!

    > TRD Off-Road model now has 33-inch tires, larger remote reservoir Bilstein shocks, a front-end lift, and a coil-spring rear suspension.
    Stock 33s? Hot damn!

    > What's more, a disconnecting front anti-roll bar is newly available
    :bananadance:

Looks aside, seems like they're coming out swinging. Was not expecting that much from Toyota.

I am fine with my turd gen, but I know a lot of people (especially 6A owners) who aren't, AND a lot of 2nd gen owners who held out for the fourth because the turd is such a turd.

I desperately need a work/kitchen surface at the camp.

    Built for strength, not beauty.

Hardware store dimensional spruce and spar urethane applied with cheap chip brushes. The legs will be bolted in with 5/16" hardware cause I know I'm gonna be standing on it and shit.

I like my 2G more than my 3G overall. I don’t love the power delivery, and never have but otherwise the 3G is the better truck.

What I don’t understand is the constant steam of 2G guys spending hours in the 3G forum badmouthing a truck they likely have never driven. It seems like a tremendous waste of time to me. Like, I don't spend hours on an Altima forum saying I don’t like the car. I had to ignore a few 2G people who posted 10x a day on the 4G about how they aren’t buying one. We get it, what do you hope to gain?

My only grumpiness about the 4G is they’re not putting the MT in the Pro as that’s what I’d likely buy if I ever got a 4G. Having to change front bumpers to run 33s easily without cutting is annoying, but I’ll cross that bridge in another 7-10 years if it’s still a 4G and they still have a MT.

I think between the two manual transmissions, the 3rd gen has the better setup. 2nd gens 1-2nd ratio might have been a bit better, but I honestly think it's negligible.

The overall smoothness of the third gen clutch / transmission is what makes me prefer it. I mean with daily driving it's noticable, but even the higher of the reasonable gears in 4lo highlight it as well.

1st and 2nd were a little clunky on the 2nd gen. After larger tires, short shifter and better gear oil, it helped a lot. 4G is a little busy, but I like it.

Land clearing project underway today! Hoping this clears up all the overgrowth so we have a clean slate to restart. I’m happy to do the maintenance once it’s back to manageable but it was far gone. Plus everything is under the timing gun to be done before September for our wedding.

Does it have a vertical cell phone charger right in front of it? Lol. I'll miss the hand brake. But I'm curious if the electronic parking break switch releases when it senses acceleration. That would be an alright compromise.

I wonder if they're trying to compete with the other mid-sized off road packages finally? Now, they could find themselves competing with the Gladiator, the Ranger Raptor and the Colorado / Canyon ZR2. There will always be brand die-hards, but some will go with what looks better on paper.

That gladiator is gonna be tough to compete with just because of how capable it is with such little modification.

    But, Chrysler product.

Yeah, that's what I mean though. There are plenty of people who won't even look at it because it's not a Toyota, but plenty who will jump ship because of it's capability out of the box. Then, there are people who won't buy it because it's a Jeep, but may start eyeing the ZR2 or the Ranger Raptor as a competitor to the Tacoma. Not sure about the ZR2, but the Ranger Raptor is pretty good spec-wise.
