Hockey Trash Talk & BS thread

We were just talking about new candidates for if Arizona gets moved to a new market. I think Quebec City would probably be my first choice. Houston was another question mark. But the more we're talking about it we're thinking about what teams might deserve either a second team in the state or just oddballs, and Ohio came to mind. Some likely they put another team in the east someone pointed out, but I think Cincinnati or Cleveland would be interesting

 

It was a good game, glad I went to sleep after regulation time. Also glad I am not a canes fan invested in that game. Just brutal. My boss didn’t even stay up for the ending. Him and his son are going to game 2.

 

Can't argue that. but to me, the big thing was you could see White's skate shaving ice to stop and the D-man coming back is what pushed him back into the goalie. So I just don't know what else he is supposed to do there? And he gets out of the blue as soon as he could. I dunno, I guess it doesn't matter but I didn't like the call, personally. But either way, it was certainly a tight game. Probably going to a very tight series, with little room for error.

 

Both teams had some great looks on set plays and odd man rushes that hit the bar or flat out missed the net. Bob did a great job preventing bounces to limit tap ins and Freddie made some amazing saves. Probably a boring game to Western and Canadian teams that are typically shootouts but was exciting grade A defense if you had a team on the ice.

 

Absolutely. I'm pretty indifferent to all of the remaining teams, not counting Stars. I like the other 3 but don't love them. Canes have been a very structured team all year. They buy in to how they are coached to play. It just seems like unless you can somehow blow them away and get them to break their system and open it up, then you have to just be patient and let the game come to you. Easier said than done. Should be a good series.

But ya, I am for sure rooting for the Stars since Pavelski has always been 1 of my fav players and I'm a big Oettinger fan. I like Robertson and a few others. So if I have a team that I'm pulling for, it's them. But I don't mind any of the remaining teams. Just hoping for some good hockey, the rest of the way lol.

 

Fans of hockey probably should watch the Canes Panthers series to get a preview of the next Stanley Cup Champion because the winner is coming out of this series. Take it to the bank haha.

 

East has been stronger all year. And certainly more good teams, so I don't think anyone would be shocked if an East team won. I picked NYR beating Dal in the Finals. I'm sure he Canes and Bruins were the 2 mot popular picks. So I could certainly see it. I do think Dallas is a very complete team though.

Panthers would be ironic, as they had the worst regular season record of all 16 playoff teams and barely beat Buffalo and Pittsburgh for that 8th seed. Shows you that regular season means squat in hockey. It’s just a 7 month warmup for the playoffs. I guess it does at least decide which 1/2 of the league gets to play for it all.
