    Title pretty much explain everything...

Driving home on the highway going about 70mph, truck started vibrating and then shaking and then BOOM! Once i heard the boom i looked at my rear-view mirror and saw the driveshaft blowing off of the truck and flying off to the side of the highway. I immediately pulled over and parked the truck, after doing so I called for the truck to be towed. Now i am home and honestly don't know what to think, the driveshaft has been on for about 2 years now with no problem until today. How bad does it look do you think? easy fix? I'm so lucky that the driveshaft didn't fly off and hit someone's car to cause a major accident.

    Anyways here are some pics...

might have to get this replaced too, i guess when the driveshaft broke off it hit this before flying off...

Looks like the u-joints have been bad for a while. It's evident by the amount of ground metal that's accumulated on the TC

Agree w/ previous posts. All u-joints look dry (no grease)...and it looks like there was a lot of heat build up. Probably would have been fine if grease properly maintained in the joints.

Hmm, is the truck actually drivable if you put it in 4H? Should basically be acting like a FWD vehicle...

It ain't the shaft that went batshit on you bro', its the lube-lacking U joints at the root of your issue, you can easily see that your drive line hasn't been maintained as well as it should've been

Guys ya gotta make the time & lube, lube , lube anything with a grease zirk, & try to be religious about it, make it a regular routine...

    I did mention lube didn't I ??.... ;)

I'd recommend that you buy a shaft from a local shop. TW shafts and universals aren't very good. IMHO. The universals get really hot for some reason. I grease mine every few months. But I have my doubts about the universals. I even installed a driveshaft strap. I'm thinking that it's just a matter of time before my shaft self destructs.
Knowing what I know now; I would never buy a shaft from TW.
