Maybe it's just the layout. I would think the TH would be more

I like the increased wheel/tire sizes, but I can’t quite warm up to any of the new wheel designs yet. Hopefully the painted-look fenders on the Pros get replaced with unfinished black before production.

I’m puzzled that this new design smartly offers virtually everything we ever wanted and a lot of stuff we didn’t even know we needed, but still missed basics like rear vents and a grab handle?

Otherwise there’s not much to dislike here, but….if prices mimic the % increases we saw with Tundra, it’s a big problem b/c we also know that Toyota dealers will not use restraint when the first wave of buyers arrive w cks in hand.

Godspeed early buyers. The rest of us will be thinking of you while debating front timing cover leaks back on Gen3.

New game plan, same as the old game plan:

keep building my 3rd gen AC OR in Lunar Rock, which might be starting to fart rainbows

I agree about almost all of this. But I don't really see the need for a driver's side grab handle.

It can help short drivers get into the truck… takes the pressure off of yanking on the steering wheel.

Yeah, this is going to sad for those early adopters who are driven by “new, new, new”, those are going to some expensive trucks. I see a fully loaded TH with a warranty, markup and add-ones being $7x,xxx easily at the finance desk. We already know we’ve crossed into the land of $1000 monthly payments and the new generation being experience driven, I think we’re just getting started.

If the steering wheel can't handle that small amount of pressure, it has no business steering a 3k+ lb vehicle.

Funny you mention that- I technically don’t use them for entry but a lot of owners did before Toyota deleted them to save a buck. The new one probably rides higher, so why not give them something a little more practical than a big “Tacoma” badge glued to the dashboard.

True, but things are designed with certain forces to be applied in a certain way. Rotating the steering wheel connected to a powersteering rack is completely different to a 200lb person pulling on it horizontally. But yes it should hopefully be able to withstand it.

I’m 6ft too, a grab handle would be useful for cleaning the roof too.

I can think of a few things we wanted but aren't getting.

MT DCLB (I don't understand giving AT the option but not MT, it's not a significant difference in weight or anything, probably has everything to do with where stuff is built and minimizing the losses of having MT in the first place)
RC SB or RC w 8' box (mostly if it were me I'd have that xtracab be about a foot smaller than it is and stuff a 7' bed on, with tailgate down it'd contain an 8' load and you'd still have OK storage inside which isn't terribly accessible anyway)
EV (hopefully coming down the road but this would have been a game changer and would have fit perfectly with a Hawaii reveal)
V6 hybrid for the crazies ala xrunner

Personally I've never used one to get in anything smaller than a full size truck. I've even thought running boards on trucks this size are pretty pointless. That being said, I'm 5'9" and understand there are much shorter and less able people than I. Nevertheless, a steering wheel serves the same purpose.

I can't imagine that wasn't factored into the decision to omit the handle

My completely unnecessary and beautiful fabzone sliders perform admirably in this regard since you don't have to lean back from the door sill. I get a little annoyed in my '05 which doesn't have them. They are super awesome for my '02 Tundra, especially with accessing stuff in the bed via windoors.

Honestly never thought I'd like sliders as much as I do, given my lack of wheelin'

I don't use them to get in, otherwise I hit my head (I'm 5' 10" or maybe 1mm shorter than 10")

The physics are irrefutable. And sometimes, we just need a place for our arm to hang out at a stoplight.

No. The teal one is a Norco Sasquatch and the black one is a Diamondback Release 3 which, unfortunately, I no longer have.
