You just need an "Amazon Experience" case to fit with that "Amazon Experience" radiator.

I forgot I even owned it lol I say that because I only play in 2K and can't spot a difference between it and the 3080 I run; Microsoft Flight Simulator does show a difference but I haven't fired that up in awhile!

    Question regarding the NVMe drives...

The Asus TUF Z790 mobo has 4 NVMe slots - three of them are under metal cover plates and one is out in the open.

I have two WD Black SN770 drives (1TB & 2TB) to put in there. I plan on using the 1TB for Windows and programs and such and the 2TB for games and file storage. Seems like the top slot (nearest the CPU) is best for the OS drive, correct?

And which slot do I put the other drive into?

Consult your MB manual. Usually 1 slot, the closest to your CPU, is hooked up directly to the CPU and should be your OS drive. The other slots will be either hooked up to your chipset or cause your graphics card slot lanes to be bifurcated (cut in half). You don't want your GC slot to be bifurcated so hook it up to whatever M2 slots are connected to the chipset. There will be a flow chart in your MB manual showing you how all the slots are hooked up.

Okay I found this quickly in the Manual for the Z790-Plus Wifi (check to make sure this is your board):

    upload_2023-3-19_15-41-9.jpg

So your OS drive should be in slot M.2_1 and your storage/game drive should be in either M.2_2 or M.2_3. Don't use M.2_4 since it probably will do something funky to the chipset USB or SATA since it has SATA lanes allocated to it.

Thanks - my last build had spinning platter hard drives and a boot ssd. Haven’t messed with NVMe drives before.

wow, that thing obviously took a beating at some point! My Corsair AIO from Amazon conveniently came with no removable plastic film over the thermal paste, so it had just gotten all over the place in the packaging and was hard and crusty. Put a 1 hour delay in my build when I realized that because I didn't have any thermal paste and the closest best buy to me is 30 mins away.. Good times.

Almost tempting. The price was less than $430 last week. Think I'll hold out until it reaches 10TB capacity.

SSD prices are so good right now. I know if I don't buy one and set it aside for future use when I do decide to do a new build they'll be expensive again...

    Yeah.
I haven't really been watching prices but the random lockups on my 6 yo rig and a failed SSD on my work PC that was a little younger pushed me to build a new home PC. Prices generally seemed reasonable. For a little over $1K (including Win11 Home direct from MS) here's what I ended up with:

    Corsair Carbide 175R case
    Corsair RM750e PS
    ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus MB
    AMD Ryzen 5 5600X CPU
    64GB Corsair DDR4 3200 RAM (4x16GB)
Crucial P5 Plus 500GB NVMe boot drive
Crucial BX500 1TB data drive (I have a 4TB Unraid box on the network for extra storage)
ASUS Dual Radeon RX 6650XT graphics
    2x Corsair additional case fans

System is stable and can actually play relatively modern games. More recent SSD's should hold up to more write cycles than the earlier stuff, so maybe I'll get several years out of it. Only thing I might change is swapping to a Noctua cooler, but the included Wraith cooler seems to work fine -- I got a code for The Last of Us, and also ran Cinebench, and temps don't get much above 75C under heavy load.

Same mobo I use. Been rock solid for me in two builds.

No real need to upgrade to a different cooler unless you want something quieter. Though if you do go with a noctua, least its sort of a "buy once, cry once" thing since noctua has supported every socket upgrade from intel and amd since it they came out.

    Yeah.
I now have that same MB in 3 builds since that is what I used in both of my daughters' systems. No issues for any of us so far, and glad I didn't go AM5 at this point. Seems there are still some bugs to work out.

I think you are right on the cooler. The Wraith Stealth is pretty minimal, but CPU temp maxes out at 70C running Cinebench, and adding in a heavy GPU load it only goes up to 81C. Seems pretty reasonable, and actually kind of impressive.

Yeah Im happy with them. I did have one Asus board thats something happened to. A x570 Prime board. No clue what happened. Was in a running system for last 2 years or so. Went to upgrade the cpu and it wouldnt post at all. Least their customer service/RMA process has been pretty painless. Just a bit slow. 3 weeks and it should be back ot me Monday

And AMD definitely did right on the coolers unlike Intels who are pretty worthless.

My work laptops do this, especially with 2+ external HD (and HD+) monitors. I chalk it up to graphics cards that are specced to barely handle one internal monitor and get overloaded several times a day just trying to re-paint. Work will usually not pony-up for PCs with getter graphics processing.

    Yeah.
I ended up adding some case fans to improve air flow and upgrading to a Peerless Assassin cooler, both to keep temps lower and reduce noise. The spinning up and down was pretty loud and annoying. I don't hear it now, runs light loads at 33C, and won't go above 51C under heavy load with fans only running at 950 RPM. Great cooler for $40.

Dude, that sucks. Video card or monitor?
