To my knowledge I read a lot of these forums and they’re pretty rare—I got one myself in Evergreen Pearl and my dad bought it new off the lot back in ancient times (i’m 18 lol), now sitting at 158K miles. Curious how many of these in this specific combo were produced? Thanks!

Hey thank you so much!! Yeah I mean unrealistically I thought I could get a number but I’m sure no one knows the exact number of them were produced lol. I did read through the forum!! Super interesting stuff. My mom was trying to get my dad to sell the truck for years but I told him not to. Glad he didn’t :)

I'm sure no one will know, I bought mine new in 97, pushing 740,000 miles with a supercharger that I put on in 1998 when they came out,

they were made from 95.5-1997 and 1997 they changed the ECU and was then compatible for the TRD supercharger that came out in 1998,
1995-1996 ECUS are not comparable with the TRD supercharger.

Hey man, big fan—it looks amazing!!. I do have a question if you would be kind enough to answer; since my truck has been sitting around for about 13 years and not many of its parts have been replaced over the years, what should be the first few things that I should replace on this 28 year old truck?? Mechanically inclined to learn and make this my project truck!! I wanna fix it up and not worry about my ball joints breaking on me or what not. Thanks <3

Well at 158k on the clock, them ball joints are due. LBJs for first gens are a weak point, and (in my opinion) should only be replaced with OEM Toyota ones and bolts to match, your looking at ~$400 there but its worth the piece of mind. Its a simple job, I just did mine last night in and hour (both sides), loctite (blue) the bolts that attach the LBJ to the 'knuckle'.

Timing belt, water pump, seals bearings and such along the way in that process is likely also due at this point. Typically over 90k - 100k for that as well.

Those are the two that come to mind quickly but general fluid maintenance would be good, (diffs, t case, trans, brakes, etc)... bushings on suspension/steering parts. UBJs, Inner/Outer tie rods.

Keep researching and asking questions, that what this forum is for!

And keep hold of that truck! Its a damn good platform to start with and grow with

Hey Chris, I cannot thank you enough!! This is super super helpful and you’re so sweet to take time to respond to
me :D I am so glad I found this forum…I wouldn’t have known where to start because of how old it is and my lack of knowledge pertaining the mechanics of automobiles. Again, thank you for your help!! Can’t believe this is free..lol

I will definitely hold onto this truck!! It’s my pride and joy and I can’t wait to start giving it the love and maintenance it deserves.

Gojo is spot on for what you should start with,
ALSO replace the rear diff breather vent, it’s a 10.00 part. If it get clogged or rusted you will blow out your axle seals that can cost you 1000 plus dollars, it’s super easy to do in a few minutes,
Also look up in the shock mount areas of the frame for rust in the rear by dropping the spare tire. You have to look from the inside of the frame with tire dropped.
Regular cab passenger side shock mount is a place that rust starts because there’s no real drain spot for water on that side especially if dirt is caked up there.
Your frame can be rust free but this area is a spot rust will start.

you can click on my reg cab build link here below to get some other ideas for the future too.
