well, we have all already come to the conclusion that the signs were to go in the place of where a parking meter would be...

that being said, i already know that where i am parked is illegal and i plan on paying the ticket

i wasnt parked in a fire hydrant zone, i had explained of where i was parked in previous posts :D

My issues stem from the vehicle being in motion...a little too much motion according to biased observers. That I could help with. I'm pretty good about leaving it where it should be.

I saw this on their website, but it still does not say if it's from the sign forward or beside the sign etc... If $42 means much to you, I would fight it!

A load zone is a type of curb use that restricts a portion of the curb for loading and unloading activities. It is second in the prioritization of curb use in Seattle. Seattle uses four distinct types of load zones which are described below along with their curb colors. Some load zones are metered and some are not. Some load zones are in effect only for certain hours (such as 7 a.m. - 6 p.m.) while others have no hours posted and are in effect 24 hours a day. The sign for each load zone will have specific information for that load zone posted. Seattle also designates Bus Zones, which are indicated by an alternating red and yellow curb.

Loading and unloading activities are not the same as parking, and load zones should not be used for parking. Using a load zone for anything other than it's intended purpose can result in a fine. Some load zones are also Tow-Away Zones when not being used for loading and unloading activities.

In addition to the load zones described below, the City also designates curb space for bus zones and taxi zones. Businesses interested in possibly locating a load zone adjacent to their place of operation may call (206) 684-ROAD (7623). A Temporary No Parking Zone can be requested for uses such as allowing a moving van to park adjacent to a building for loading or unloading activities by calling (206) 684-5086 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (206) 684-5086 end_of_the_skype_highlighting.
    Generic Load Zone
    Time limit: 30 minutes (unmetered)
Sign Wording: "Load and Unload Only"
    Curb Color: Yellow
Purpose: To be used for several types of loading and unloading activities, including dropping off or picking up passengers, loading or unloading items from private vehicles (such as personal or company cars or trucks), and loading or unloading from items from commercial delivery vehicles.

    Passenger Load Zone
Time Limit: 3 minutes or 15 minutes (may be metered)
Sign Wording: "3 Minute Passenger Load and Unload Only"
    Curb Color: White
Purpose: To provide a place to load and unload passengers for adjacent dwellings and businesses. These are intended for quick passenger drop-offs and pick-ups, and should not be used for loading or unloading items from a vehicle.

I just wanted to point out the fact that if it is a loading zone why is there a tree right there? Then towards the rear what is with the rail? To me if the space in between is a loading zone, there should be another sign farther back. But I guess it's all a gray area in the courts eyes.

Loading zone = the city loading up on your hard earned money.

Paid it, thanks to everyones responses here I have learned that those signs originally replaced parking meters, very confusing considering there are no longer any meters

    too damn many
parking tickets are crap and just made up to make more money off of people trying to park their damn vehicles houston is terrible about parking the cheapest it is now is 8 bucks in surface lots and all the garages have a bad habit of having a 6'2 clearance problem, you got lucky with 42 dollar ticket, in houston it would have been like another said 115 bucks, i got hit with one the first day of school because i was newbie and didnt realize the lot marked student parking wasnt really student parking it was a LAZ parking lot meant to screw over students

its NOT more to fight it, its free, fight it yourself, arm yourself with a little knowledge, pictures, legal terminology, a cops worst nightmare... i love fighting shit! do it... parking looked legit to me, but cant see the fine print on the sign... but if the signage says youre okay, FIGHT TO THE DEATH!!! the "man" wants us to be dumb and submissive, be it the fed govt, or the local sheriff, everyone needs and idiot to sell... pay the ticket, be the idiot, (unless you KNOW you were in the wrong, which happens, and you deserve the fine, pay it, be done) fight it, and teach others your ways!!!

how long did you park for and what time did you park?? i believe that sign says 3 minute parking for loading and unloading a passenger between 5pm-2am. you can pay to park all you want the rest of the day. the picture is kind of blurry but thats what i can make of the sign. its all timing, maybe the meter reader was just camping out there in their vehicle waiting for you.

Generally if the loading zone were between the signs, it would indicate so with a "BETWEEN SINGS". Since that isn't present (from the pictures) the loading zone is considered one car space prior to each sign. So based on the pictures there is actually two loading zones there.
