I've also noticed on all the videos I've seen of the new tacoma, in the engine bay it doesn't show an engine cover. Is that a pre production thing or will it be like that on production models?

I’d be shocked if they’re sold with all that mess visible. I think they didn’t include the cover to demonstrate the new motor.

Gotta say the complexity is a bit overwhelming.

In Larry Chen’s video, he asked the Toyota representative if it would come with an engine cover and he said no

What's a 2 wheel drive going to do in the snow lol
Front wheel drive is fine but that would not sell well up here

I doubt it. I have a 2023 Tundra iForce MAX. Build date March 1.

On our CA fuel (it's piss) I'm at 17.3 Mpg on the dash meter right now, and that's with my efforts to stay out of the turbos with an occasional playful moment or two.

To be fair, I'm still in break in at 600 or so miles on the clock so maybe I'll see some improvement down the road. I hope so... because a 32 gallon tank at CA gas prices $4.49/gal at Costco really adds up in a hurry.

On the plus side, that truck can MOVE when the turbos and hybrid kick in! Low end grunt is amazing and punching it brings a huge grin to my face every time. Truck does 85mph with zero effort, engine just loafs, and many times without me even noticing. I have taken to using the radar cruise to avoid a ticket, because it's gonna happen if I'm not careful.

MPG won't be any better than standard non hybrid imo but the power is awesome. I test drove both, and choosing the hybrid was a no brainer for me.

    Mileage meter upper left:

Yikes. If any engine needed a cover it’s this one.

If you watch Kirk's original video from the other night he asked the engineer that question and they may make it an option due to leg room in the back. No one on here knows pricing or final product. Toyota has not announced any of that yet

I bought my 2022 OR premium in British Columbia for just under 50 grand before taxes. I’m thinking a loaded OR with hybrid will come in at around 57 to 58K
