I did end up buying American (GM) a lot when that still made sense..though buying at auctions my choices were limited in the first place, plus a lot of the foreign vessels back then were rotbuckets.

I now buy the best..regardless of name or location. Chevy helped me decide on that one as most of you recall

If any of you fish with S&S Bucktales, John Skinner Fluke Bucktails, stock up now. S&S Bucktails has announced they have ceased business.
I have placed an online order with J&H Tackle and also with Grumpys Tackle, so I’ll be all set.

My truck has a power delivery identical to my old STi. Drives me nuts since it's not a turbo truck.

The 33" trucks have a unique front bumper for clearance. If they've clearanced enough for a 33" tire, I don't see how there won't be wiggle room. You figure the 2G and 3G can go from a 30.9" tire to a 31.6" tire at stock height without issue and many have fit a 255 without cutting depending on offset. It might take some work to do it without cutting anything, but I'd be shocked if there wasn't a way to do it.

Regarding the tailgate it's effectively analogous to the power rear hatches, right? In general those will likely be used more than any tailgate would. We have one in our Jeep and given Mopar's sterling reputation if any would break it would be that and ours has performed flawless for nearly 7 years.

100%. There's no rear seats. They're looking to sell to someone who's using it as an actual truck. Granted, the ones they show are fancied up, but no one with a family will be buying one without any sort of jump seat in the back. I was going to try to baby when I had my AC but life intervened. I suspect even if I didn't want to that I would have ended up trading in that truck for a DC.

Toyota is going to engineer for stock tire size and then some additional design margin. While I don't play that much in the large tire threads, I don't read a ton about people having issues with 255 / 285s. My guess would be that the design margin on a 33" tire is going to be roughly the same as the stock 2G tires as I can't get a good enough view of the non-Pro/Trailhunter tire sizes. But what do I know.

I can't really justify upgrading my truck right now, but I'd have zero issue grabbing a 4G. In my dreams I'd have the hybrid motor with the 6MT, but I'd probably still take the MT over the higher trim assuming I could get a sunroof with the stick.

In funner news my wife survived the teacher cuts in her district, so we're getting very close to doing some real WRX hunting. I've been projecting out budget versus payment versus emergency fund and I've got some numbers brewing. Now I just need to find the right car for me. I'm on the fence between two models ideally, so we will see what the future holds. The longer I wait the better car I can get, obviously. I already have mapped out what I want, something like below:

2011-2014 WRX with MY04 STi BBS wheels (undecided between gold / silver, leaning silver) - WRB
    [IMG]
    or

2015+ WRX Sedan with 2005-2007 STi BBS wheels (again undecided on gold / silver) with the STi big dumb wing (BDW)

The 2011-2014 sedan is okay-ish, but I don't like it nearly as much as the hatch and IMO the 2015+ sedan is a better car anyways.

I'll see where the chips fall in the coming weeks / months.

I think the hatch backs look the best.

While the hatchbacks are nice, I do enjoy riding in my brother's 2016 WRX, and for the one time, enjoyed driving it! He hasn't gone mad with aftermarket parts, but the car has been extremely reliable, even with the CVT. He has only done regular maintenance. I haven't personally seen one with those 04 STI BBS wheels, but they do look sharp on that car.

I actually like the 10th Gen Civic Si more than the 2015+ WRX but all things equal the WRX seems to be cheaper than the Si, which needs more work to equal the WRX, if that makes sense.

My best friend has the Civic with enough bolt-ons to be somewhere in the 3XX range. It’s a blast but I don’t want to go down that rabbit hole.

The 2015+ WRX uses the 5x114.3 hubs where the 02-14 use 5x100. The MY04 STi was the only one to use the 5x100 hubs making those wheels worth considerably more since there’s fewer sets around.

The 15+ used a new motor and a 6MT compared to the usual EJ/5MT in the earlier cars. I will have to start driving cars and see what I think. I haven’t driven a 2011-2014 in a decade nor a 15+ since maybe 2016-2017.

Well started to attempt to figure out my fog light mounting to the steel bumper. Don't think it's going to work out. Used cardboard to make a cutout template and see if my idea even has a possibility of working. Think it's a little too curved on one end to use on a steel bumper.

Nothing a little black RTV and a wet fingertip can't fix. Put a little mold release on the bumper, put in the insert, RTV/wipe/cure, et voila.

You could always heat up the edges and then press the face flat against the floor.

Or do what everyone else is saying and the RTV.

The question is do I go about cutting the bumper up assuming my idea will work and look good, or just buy some new sae and dot approved amber fogs that would work in the original steel bumper mounting

Ok. So I would believe your original idea of just cutting into it and putting them on would work fine.

worst case scenario it would just give it a look similar to the ARB bumpers.

Maybe cut a piece of scrap stock first to test?
