Everything I'd heard is that the 3/8" and 1/4" are identical except for the drive size. So if you don't mind using 1/4" tools then it should have the same power as the 3/8". That said, I think the best combo is to get the 3/8" Fuel version AND the 1/4" non-fuel version. The non-Fuel version is a smaller tool and better fit into tighter areas.

Recently added this small deck (8x8) to the rear of my house. Used my Gen 2 (purchased in 2020) M12 Fuel Impact Driver and Fuel Screwdriver (each with the XC 3.0) to install the decking and stair treads. I pre-drilled all the holes before driving all the screws home. Both worked like a champ and still had 2 bars left when done. Also used the Impact for all other screws on the deck.

After your not-so good experience with the milwaukee miter saw, can you recommend a sliding miter saw for the noob/novice for general home/hobby use? I am rebuilding an old pop up trailer and I ve got to the point where im trying to cut 45 degree miters in quarter round. My dads old radial arm saw has this capability, but the table isnt really set up for it. I thought it was a good a reason as any to get a new saw. I would prefer a corded model and a milwaukee but dont really want to drop 7 bones for the red, as they only make one corded model.

EDIT: This thing is a beast though!

I really like the 7 1/4" size sliding saws now. If you don't expect the need to cut bigger material, I'd recommend one of those. Otherwise you're jumping up to 10". For homeowner you you can't go wrong with Ryobi.

i would really recommend my harbor freight miter saw
mine is pre 'warring-brands' at HF (admiral, bauer, hercules), it's just the 12" miter saw, though probably closest to the bauer the notch stops and indictor tolerances are sloppy, so using only the saws guides is a recipe for disaster. but the extension slider is buttery smooth and once it's set with your preference of jig (i always used a speed square), it locked in tight and cut exactly what i asked of it-- most times my measurements were off.

if you were near chicago, i'd let you borrow mine. i got it to finish out my bathroom 3 years ago and haven't touched it since.

I have a 15ish year old craftsman 10 inch single bevel that is still very good, honestly if your not gonna use it a lot most any brand is decent including harbor freight and ryobi. I do think that dewalt makes the best miter saws until you jump in quality/price of Bosch or Festool, the nice thing about DeWalt is they are pro grade made heavy duty enough to take a beating and still be good as new, I would look for a used dewalt 10 inch sliding miter saw on CL/FB, I see them in my city for $100-$150 regularly.
