I am afraid to see the new 2014 pricing as it looks scary with all the bells and whistles that they have put into them. I will stick with my Sport who has been good, affordable to me. just saying

I actually started looking at the offerings last night, then realized the Xtra-cab "all about maximum utility" meant no doors, wtf? I'm out.

The rear doors do provide plenty of access. I was trying to figure out a way to throw my lunch box in the back of the super cab with out opening the reas door. No practical way around it. There's always the passenger floor board. I guess you can always tilt the seat forward. I could live with out the rear access door.

For fun Toyota could implement a lap door or roll up door to make it easier to access items in the rear of the cab.

I tilted seats for years. If I want to go back, I'll find another 'Best Gen' and get the pop-out window upgrade!

I would personally eat the sales tax if you have another means of transportation. Used vehicles are used vehicles and they’re a main focus to get cheaper. If you sell the Tacoma and put the money into an account you’ll gain 5% on the money … but wait 2 years and your taxes are already paid for and you paid zero for the truck.
Easy decision for me, the 3rd gen is a compromise considering the 4th gen improvements are so apparent.

I could live with it. Toyota might reintroduce an access cab later on, they need some innovation later down the road. Toyota could also discontinue the extra cab. I'd prefer a rear door on the XC but I like regular cab trucks. The cab structure might also be more rigid. I liked the cab Ford use to offer on 11th gen F-150 it was a regular cab with very small rear doors.

The new 4th gen has peak power down at 1700 RPM

3rd gen will be a laughing stock in comparison on all fronts.

You can look up their strategy if you want. They’re all about efficiency and fair labor practices. Besides, even post Covid the materials needed to run all these electronics are scarce. If I’m Toyota I’m putting a majority of those resources to the vehicles that sell the most, Prius, and putting just enough out for the niche markets. So sure, some markets will have more tacomas for sale than others when they come out, but in general, there won’t be enough.

I was going to pay the truck off right away but then saw where interest rates are going so I'm still technically earning a bit over the 3.49 rate I got (not great, but not nothing - plus with the front loaded interest on the loan, most of the interest is paid now anyway). The Tacoma is a...let's see, haha a 5th vehicle so I can keep the miles down pretty low if I only use it when I need a truck and every now and then just to keep the battery up. And I am still not 100% go on the 4G but it's looking like it will be tempting..

I suspect it won’t take you long once that puppy is released to really want one. I will also be waiting for the 25/26

There is a big part of me that hopes I don’t, hah. But learning about the new truck’s low end two days after backing a 3+ ton dump trailer on soft ground, with the absurdly high reverse gearing, oh does that sound sweet.

But then again if I was doing that a lot I probably would have gone automatic..and probably not a Tacoma to begin with..

I’m holding myself over with a Ram 1500 for a few years (with a Hemi) - got $15,000 roughly off MSRP on a 2022 leftover, couldn’t turn it down. Bought it loaded for the same price as a base TRD off road, Toyota dealers still asking MSRP - everywhere else is offering pretty nice discounts on trucks

I didn't pay MSRP last month for my tacoma. I didn't get a killer deal, but did get 1000 off with no additional dealer add-ons. In my book I would much rather buy the last gen tacoma then a inflated priced Ram even after getting a incentive thrown at it, or any other domestic truck for that matter. But each there own I guess.

Normally I’d agree with you but a loaded V8 domestic for the same Price as a tacoma stripped down off road? Give me the V8 all day long

Said this before, I’ll say it again. There is a reason they knocked so much money off that Ram. As a holdover for a few years it makes sense, but I wouldn’t want to be stuck holding the repair bill on that thing post warranty.

I dont think the 3rd Gen Values will drop, if anything the 4th Gen will attract attention and generate interest to Tacoma's in general. For the people unable to afford new ones, they will probably seek late model 3rd Gen used.

This is comical. You’re trying too hard to justify the end. I bet you are not as happy in that 1500. Go become a member in a 1500 forum and tell them how great it is, and how terrible the 3rd Gen is

You don’t drive a Tacoma anymore. Adios.
