My 2009 Tacoma frame was inspected in 2018 and then coated with a rust inhibitor as part of the Toyota recall/class action agreement. Toyota service just performed an inspection as required here in Vermont. They found unrepairable frame perforations essentially taking the value of the truck to near zero. I called Toyota of America for help. They said there was nothing they could do to help given the frame extended warrantee ended last year. Are there others out there with the same problem?

Use the Search function. Plenty of information here. The short answer is that you're SOL. Sorry.

As an alternative, take the truck to an auto rust repair specialist. Ask them what they think.

Some of this Some of that
If it’s out of the time period Toyota is required to replace the frame you are truly fucked and we are ALL sorry for you as it’s a real problem with these trucks.. That being said like daves300 said safety cap is a good solution to keep your taco on the road for many more years. The value is not zero, and typically
There is one area (by the front mount for the leaf spring) that fails first. If repaired and the rest of the frame is treated to slow rust you can get a lot more time out of the truck

My 2010 is getting it's frame replaced this year due to a hole on the right side by the catalytic converter (just waiting on the frame to arrive); I love my truck, but why can't Toyota get its shit together with these frames?!?!

What size was the hole they found on yours? I think the threshold is 2mm ??

I had something like this about this big and idiot tech just said oh its fine. Oh and it appears they have no photos of what the rusted out parts near CATs looked like either so how does anyone even really know what it looked like at the time of inspection ?

Toyota perforation requirement is anything 10 mm (1 cm) or larger.

I swear i had one side the drivers side where the hole was at least on the line if not 10 mm threre is no way it rusted that much in about a year. Does the dealer have any enforcement from Toyota to make this right ?
