Hey guys; 2013 access cab, Toytec Ultimate front coils, stock UCA/LCA, front sway bar relocated… getting a pretty pronounced “clunk” from the front when going over speed bumps. Noise always happens when coming down the back side of the speed bump, seemingly on coil compression. Feels like it’s the drivers side, but I really can’t tell. LCA bolts are all tight, checked them pretty well. Can’t see any area on the sway bar or coil where they’d be making contact on either side. Skid plates are both tight and free of any rocks on them. CVs have no play.

everything seems tight and where it’s supposed to be. I’m a little perplexed on this one; anyone else have a similar issue they fixed? Or, can rationalize and are just living with it?

How do the bushings look? I'd check them on the UCA, LCA, and both ball joints rubber boot. You may be do get the wheel off the ground to check the play, definitely a worn suspension part from the sounds of it.

What struts? You might be bottoming out on the struts.

I would normally agree, but the truck has 78k miles on it, and doesn’t make the noise any other time… only when going over a speed bump a tad aggressively.

It looks like the Toytec ultimate coilovers, so I don’t know much about them…

Sorry, I read that as coils the first time. I’m not super familiar with those but a clunk over speed bumps sounds like an internal stop in the strut to me. Not necessarily problematic if that’s the case.

Don't let mileage fool you, suspension parts can go at anytime. One good bump is all it takes sometimes, I went through two UCA in 20k miles before.

Yeah that’s kind of the conclusion I was coming to… drivers side would have slightly more weight coming down on it with just the driver in the truck… I can’t recreate the noise outside the truck…. I’ve tried bouncing the front as hard as I can from the front bumper…

Probably a bad Toytec strut assembly. If they are the Bilstein 5100's it wouldn't surprise me.

I have the exact same symptoms and I can’t find the cause either. Clunk only happens on the downslope of a speed bump. I have 5100’s with OME 883’s. I just figured it’s either the coil or shock. Drives fine even had a mechanic look at the suspension when I was getting an alignment but he said everything was tight and bushings looked good. I’m just not gonna worry about it since everything else seems fine.

Perfect, I checked everything and can’t find any obvious issues either, just gonna not worry about it; truck drives great otherwise.

Ya, just like you it only happens when I go over a speed bump a little faster than normal and it really compresses the coil/shock. I attributed it to the coils as it varies but sounds like it be coming from either side. Started mostly coming from the drivers side but then I’ve heard it on the passenger side too a couple times.

Sounds like the previous suggestion of the built in stop in the coilover, or the coilover bottoming out, honestly. Just gonna chuck it up to that.

No there wouldn't. It would still handle fine and everything else would seem normal outside of the noise.
