To me, the AC is all about versatility. It is great for easy access to gear, taking the dog(s), and has highly underrated back seats, especially for kids. The jump seats won't win the market, but they are the exact reason that the AC is my truck and the XC will never be.

If the AC was not a seller, to the point that the '24 XC is here to unceremoniously usher us all to a DC, I'm glad I got a '23 AC.

I like the AC suicide doors. I use them all the time.

I don't doubt Toyota would make such a lame decision.

Yeah it looks like I'm going to skip on the Xtracab for 4th gen. It is going to be annoying to put my tools on a crew cab especially if it is a hybrid. The half doors were amazing for having to reach for tools or store other things like when trying to buy and deliver a new TV to someone. They should have kept the access cab if they are going to market it as a work truck.

From what it looks like, no. The prerunner is only available in 2wd. The SR and SR5 will probably be available with 4wd and Xtracab.

At least put a suicide door on the driver side for a 3 door. That would have been a good price/safety compromise.

So now that I see the video and the passenger seat folds down flat, it is far better access than my ‘98 Dakota style (seat simply leaned forward and access was very awkward and difficult). Question to me is, does the drivers side do the same or does the steering wheel prohibit that? The guy couldn’t reach behind the drivers side from the passenger door so that would be key to me. Still love the suicide doors and glad I got a new ‘22 that will last me a long time. Maybe they will bring them back in the 2044 model when I’m looking again!

It doesn’t look like the drivers fold flat, only slides forward. Did see that you could adjust the angle of the base with a ratchet lever on the side, similar the 4Runner SR5 seats I have in my 1G, so that is kinda cool. Not crazy about the seat fabric, true utility work trucks should have vinyl, which modern vinyl is far better than the earlier stuff.

“2044” that made me laugh! If my 3G turns out to be like my 1G…might be the same for me too!

    So no more Sweers?

Crash/Safety is the excuse…much like the seatbelt will only be the carry over from the 2G to the 3G. :p ;) Toyota, the largest automaker in the World, can’t make the AC pass a crash test? I highly doubt it, looks like the bean counters got to it. Honestly, why even have an XC at all then?

Nissan redesigned the Frontier King Cab, still comes with clam shell doors. They were able to pass the crash test somehow even being the Dodge of the Japanese manufacturers. Probably won’t have another redesign for 10-15 years.

Leaf’s might not be a bad thing, assuming they are going to have the highest payload. As the majority of overland bros are well beyond payload.

Guessing because Toyota being quirky Toyota, manual will only available in the DCSBs. We will see when the configurator goes live. Not that it matters, only cab I am interested in is the AC. I’ll piss and moan about the ‘24 for a bit, then I’ll be thankful that I have my ‘21 3G, and just go enjoy it. :)
That would work, as I rarely use the passenger side.

It’s just such a weird compromise.

They understand that people who actually use these things for work want a short cab with a long bed but instead of making it a true regular cab, which makes the truck easy to maneuver, they went for almost the size of the access cab, but harder to access with no suicide doors, like a “regular cab +.”

Whatever space there is behind the seats becomes almost completely an afterthought if you can’t easily access it.

Leafs are cool and it better have a 4x4 for non PreRunners.

I think somebody at Toyota wanted to kill extended cabs and the XtraCab was a compromise. Make it as cheap as possible. I still would have preferred jump seats. They don’t take up a lot of room and give you the ability to transport 2 addition passengers if needed. I’m taking 3 people with me tomorrow to Hungry valley in ACLB. Have the 6 foot bed to fit a bike comfortably with tailgate up and have more payload and shorter wheel base than a DCLB.

The jump seats are nice, even though I didn’t want them. Have used them in a pinch a couple times. Gave two guys a ride back to their trucks the other day after one rolled his quad.

Prerunner Xtra cab, manual, one suicide door = perfect. Add 4x4 and rear window = ultimate. Can’t fit fishing rods in 5’ bed.

Don’t fish, but it is a cot for me why a 5’ bed won’t work. That MX gear bag gets tossed in the cab when I set up camp. Be a pain in the neck in the XC.

Most bass fishing rods are one piece and 7’. Doesn’t fit diagonally in the 5’ bed. 6’ beds are awesome

I Nordic ski too, those won’t fit in a 5’ bed either. There are times could really use an 8’.

XC in oxide brown is what I'm going for, I like the look of the Prerunner and could get by with out 4wd. I'd prefer 4x4 maybe a SR or SR5 XC 4x4 will be available. Underground color looks good but I like brown. The only thing standing in the way are the dealers. I wonder if Toyota has any plans for a vinyl floor on this truck?

Doubt it. My SR UP has a carpeted floor, and that’s bare ass poverty package.
