Double Cab Long Beds!

I see a lot more DCLBOR Tacoma's than I ever thought I would. They're more popular than you think.

 

Thats some Tacoma trivia I didnt know! I'll sadly eat my words if they dont offer it, but I also wont be buying a new Tacoma in that case. I dont really care about crawl control, but wont be buying another truck without a locker. I have been saved by my locker too many times on my DCLBOR. I sure hope they keep the offering.

 

maybe they'll make it an option in the SR5??? I don't know if they've ever done that. There's always aftermarket with arguably better locker options.

 

Has anyone spent time in double cabs with both a 5 and 6 foot bed? Does it radically change how the truck drives? How's the DCLB drive compared to a full size?

I won't buy a truck with a 5' bed. If I'm buying a truck it needs to fit my mountain bike in the back. But once you get to the wheelbase of a DCLB, I wonder if it makes sense to jump to a full size? Or does the DCLB still feel nimble and small while driving compared to a full size?

 

I’m in the same boat for my Mtn bike as well. My 09 access cab has served me well but it’s time.
I’ve been shopping tundra for a while and running into the same thing. New tundra DC is quite small in the back. Crewmax 6.5 is a big ass truck. Double cab 6 taco seems like the logical move….if I can get most of the goodies without the snorkel and goofy rack.

 

Can you get double cab long bed with manual trans?

 

The double cab long bed is a boat. If you live someplace where you need to make tight turns and fit into short parking spaces it’s not the truck for you.

 

I went from a Ram 3500 SRW CCLB to a TRD Off Road DCLB. I felt like I was driving a Big Wheels after that swap. LOL!

 

Tundra DC 6.5’ bed has a wheelbase of 145”.

Current Tacoma DCLB is 140”, 4th Gen supposedly grew 4”. So splitting hairs wheelbase wise.

Rear passenger legroom is about the same. Tundra has a more powerful engine, better capacities, gain an extra 6” on bed length and a little wider. Stepping up to the Tundra seems like a no brainer.

Weird, side profile of the Tacoma makes the Tundra look tame now.

 

Mass produced indeed, but there are fewer DCLB Tacoma than DCSB so for those who want them they can fetch a good price.
I have been eying 3rd gen Tundra CrewMax + 6ft bed, they are not being discounted as heavily as CrewMax + 5ft bed, so they are already holding value better than the shorter wheel base.

Only time will tell when 4th gen Tacoma comes out

 

I have! I had a shorter wheelbase 6' cab with the access cab style, and now a DCLB. The DC is noticeably harder to park in the city, and definitely takes noticeably wider turns. I had a tundra for a while too, and can say that it felt WAY bigger than the DCLB Tacoma. The longer wheelbase is is for sure noticeable, but it is no where near a hindrance.

 

This is exactly what I'm trying to figure out. If you go by toyotas website then no, but that would seem like such a big mistake. It looks like no manual for any SR5 or limited.

No one knows yet. But it is highly unlikely. Toyota has never offered than combo before, that probably won't start now

 

My biggest dilemma is if I go for the pro, or the off-road since I know I will eventually be modding the shit out of it anyway

 

What's on the website right now in nothing more than a list of the top 5 bullet point features for each trim level, not a complete build sheet. Considering the TRD OR is one of the top selling trim levels and also the trim level we know the least about right now, I think it's safe to assume there will eventually be a more info rolled out about all of the trim levels.

 

I agree. I think there is a lot more to come. I hope and trust the OR will be available with the 6ft bed.
