Yes I know this is an old topic....anyway, I installed HS AAL and the squeaking is unbearable. Sounds like a hoopty! I'm looking for a product to provide a permanent solution. So now on to why is it squeaking? I didn't have any squeaking when I had a block lift. I thought by replacing the block with an AAL that would be an "upgrade", more like a pain in the ass! Can I assume it's the aftermarket leafs and not the factory leafs? I have to assume its between the bottom factory and the top aftermarket leaf since the factory leafs didn't squeak prior to the AAL. It sounds like its right in the middle, between the U bolts. I've tried white lithium grease, no dice. Any help or product links is appreciated!

The factory pads are known for squeaking, spread them apart and insert some grease/silaglyde on them.

The block from before put different pressure on the shims than the AAL does. I’m not aware of any permanent solutions to prevent the squeak on the stock shims. Just use a pry bar and separate the leafs slightly and grease a few times a year. Takes maybe 15 minutes.

Also, I forgot to re-install these when i installed the AAL. Are they necessary and where do they get installed?

Did you take apart the AAL's and apply grease between the leafs before installing like the HS instructions say? Mine don't squeak at all.

Nope. The ends of the leafs are all you are worried about. I blast them with the pressure washer. Then spray some silicone grease on them.

I sprayed some white lithium grease but I don't think I applied enough and not evenly. Any particular grease and how did you apply it? Did you brush it on or just smear it with nitrile gloves?

I used heavy duty/bearing grease and just used a nitrile glove and smeared it on. I did not put it on thick, just a nice coating. I think marine grease would be good also, but not lithium. Cover the top side of each leaf and assemble.

^^^^^ This. i have HS AAL and used a liberal layer of lithium grease between each upon installation - 2 years later and no noise.

Leaf-liners, is a permanent solution. Grease, you will have keep reapplying.

Yesterday I removed the AAL and thoroughly greased all surfaces. I also greased the OEM leafs. No more squeak. Was not a fun process but totally necessary.
