What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Speaking of noises...spent some time working on that yesterday. Covered the back of the cab in 80ml butyl. Planning to pull a door panel off this afternoon and start on the doors then pull the seats and carpet in early June and do the floor. In the fall I'll drop the headliner and do the top of the cab.

Could be steering rack hardware if the one time use nuts were ever loosened. They’re serrated. Only the bolt is supposed to be loosened. Which traditionally makes no sense.

I hope you did that right. Because LCA hardware should probably be tightened wheels on the ground at ride height, not angles of drooping in the air

Completed the "4Runner" Brake Mod with stainless lines. It did make a difference in stopping power.
while at it, I upgraded my rear storage.

 

I have a lot of rubber washers on either side of it, It's pretty hard to move if you're not trying too. But I could totally believe it would cause some rukus banging on my steel skid plate.

 

Doing the doors was the best thing I ever did for my sound system. I'd really like to do the roof, to get rid of the tin can sound in the rain, but the headliner looks like a PITA to take off, the only way I'll remove the carpet is if I find a black one to take its place.

 

I don't believe I've ever messed with steering rack hardware. I originally torqued the LCA bolts on Saturday with the truck on the ground, Sunday I rotated the tires and double checked the torque with the truck in the air, nothing moved when I rechecked the torque so I'm probably alright, but that thought never crossed my mind. Makes sense that it needs to be on the ground though, thanks for the tip.

 

If I ever wrap, or paint my truck. It's going to be that color.....

 

Today I did the 3M Quick Headlight Clear Coat on my headlights... and you know what? It worked. Not too shabby. They were getting a bit cloudy. This was able to remove it with about 15 mins of work. Colour me impressed.

 

Did a power steering flush today after inspecting fluid. Fluid color was dull brown with "burnt" smell. In: Redline D4 ATF. I'll keep flushing over the next 2-3 weeks until the fluid is clear/red.

 

Need to add this to my list..... I'll do the drain and fill (resi) til its clear method.

 

Fishin line, then use the back of a plastic spoon to help get the foam tape off. Buy one of those adhesive eraser things (pretty sure thats the technical term for it) that uses your drill off Amazon. They're amazing at getting off the residue and I've used it way more times than I ever thought I would.

 

Did one door this evening and should have time for two more tomorrow. I want to do the floor to help negate some of the additional noise from long tube headers.

 

Damn. I want long tunes. How was the install? I've heard horror stories

 

If I didn't JUST order a rooftop awning yesterday I'd be all over that.

 

What kind of hiccups did you run into? Were they bumper or swing-out related? It looks really good on your truck and it's on my short-list when I go to purchase one myself.

 

Getting the original bumper and hitch off was more of a pain than anything— Thanks!! It was my own fault on the hiccup. I got carried away, and pressed the seals in too much at the hinge part of carrier. (It was late in the day, and I failed to read directions.) Haha! Otherwise it was really good. Everything lined up perfectly.
