My Taco suffers this injustice as well. I may having something big potentially brewing on this issue and will update as I can in the next 4-5 days!

You are full of shit. Toyota knows exactly where they are and won't change until the numbers change. Social media does not win always.

No, he's right. Bad publicity is a great motivator. And lighten up a little. You're a tad uptight.

I would ask the dealer for a guarantee that they will repair any paint pealing beyond the 3 year warantee because you are aware of the paint issue for Tacomas manufactured in Baja. Or ask for your deposit back.

Look, you are just like everyone else... you, me, and everyone else have one vote...with your wallet. You use that vote (or nowadays a starred review) every day when you spend money on a product. If you don't like something or if that company pisses you off, just don't buy from them any more.
Trust me, a company hates to lose even one customer. So, sell your Tacoma, buy something else and send Toyota a detailed reason on why you did what you did. That will matter more to Toyota than anything else that you can do. Think about it because they will too. You send a $40K message that you bought a Nissan because of their white paint problems. That is powerful.
Now, if you turn around and buy another color Toyota, it means nothing to them. They still got your money.
This is what is killing Budweiser.... sure, social media helped spread the word but people just started voting with their wallet. Voting with your wallet is the most power you will ever have to a company.

I already put my money where my mouth is. I posted on Toyota site that my wife test drove a few Highlanders and was interested but I would not in good faith purchase a Toyota due to the fact that they are unwilling to do the right thing and repair the paint issue with affected Tacoma so we bought a Mercedes SUV instead. I am not selling my Tacoma and being done with it. I won't buy another Toyota product. I also sent a letter to Toyota headquarters that I shared on this blog on April 21, 2023 (#465). I don't drink so I really don't give a shit about Anheuser Busch

Adding to this! Having the same issue, doors are chipping pretty badly on both sides by the windows, a little bit in the gas cap area, and some inside the hood. Started happening a few months ago - no issues for almost 10 years. Filed a complaint with Toyota corporate (same number that most called, 1-800-331-4331) and got added to the list of case numbers. Was hoping for some "good will" but no dice. Really hoping the attention this problem is getting might do some good!

Alright, I'll play along for a minute...
You wanna start a social media campaign saying "beware of Toyota Tacoma white paint trucks. It flakes off!
    What you don't know is:
    How many are affected?
    How long should paint last?
How many has Toyota paid for to be fixed? For all we know, Toyota could have paid for 10K paint jobs and only the ones here are not getting any love.
Point is, people really know nothing except them and a few others from Tacoma World had some white paint peeling.
Again, I think people should vote with their wallet as it is the most powerful weapon they have.

I just got back from the repair/paint shop. They told me that I cannot simply add a wrap or ppf on top of the problem areas because when the wrap/ppf would be removed, the paint underneath it would probably just peel off with it. So now I am stuck with living with my personal paint touch ups, or get the entire doors and engine bay area repainted.

You want people to vote with their wallet, but you keep telling people they don't know enough to post on social media and social media campaigns are ineffective. How are potential customers supposed to know of the problem if someone doesn't tell them?

I can tell you with certainty that if I knew people had problems with their white paint before I made my purchase, I would have chosen differently. Social media is very effective, despite your oddly angry claims that it doesn't work.

I knew. I researched. I bought super white in 2022 with no worries.
Toyota Tacoma number one color is white. Hundreds of thousands of white Tacomas. You think a few hundred complaints will scare people?
    I'm not angry, just logical.

Yup. I asked my vinyl guy the same and it makes sense.

My 2016 is peeling on both quarter panels of the engine bay and behind the driver rear window. I’ve touched that area up but haven’t addressed the bay.

While I agree, let’s say (like the petition w/ 5k signatures indicates) there really are 5,000 people with the same problem. At $30k average value for the car, they’ve made ~$150m in revenue off the affected cars. Ignoring dealer cut, etc. etc. let’s run with the quick math. Might be more, might be less.

Let’s say the repair costs $2,000 per person. To not shell out a measly $10m to fix the entire problem is a bit silly. Only a 6% reduction of revenue on a select # of cars.

For a corporation that makes $250B+ each year, profits around $50b, it’s more reasonable than you might think to be a little upset it’s not getting fixed.

Whether social media will do anything is still a question, but for them not to spend .00004 of revenue on people is lame. That’s the equivalent of a _____ company making $10m a year not spending $400 on a customer having an issue with _____ product.

Your math is not even close. You completely forgot the cost to build said vehicle and all the labor and overhead that goes into it.
