Yes, talking '23 in this example.

So a Pro is basically a fully optioned-up Off Road with some additional branding-type things.

Basically, yes. The suspension is the main functional thing that makes the pro better...the rest are just cosmetics.

I've always liked the heritage Toyota grill, reminds me of the older land cruisers.

I may be better off getting a trd off road and getting the pro grill....especially with the way these prices are heading.

Are the suspension items limited to the coil-overs and shocks?

If you are talking about the 4th Gen Tacoma, the new pro has a totally different suspension, wider track and is lifted more than the Off Road. There are plenty of videos discussing this some linked on this thread as well.

I’d say probably premium since that’s what then Lexus NX with the same system requires but I sure hope I’m wrong.

I just can't see Toyota requiring premium fuel. Telling a Lexus buyer to buy 93 is a whole lot easier than telling Tacoma buyer the same.

I do wonder if they will have separate maps for separate octanes, Toyota has done that before. Or simply say the motor will run on lower octane fine, but not reach its advertised numbers as they were spec'd with premium.

We will see though. It is an interesting question that needs answered.

If it requires premium the savings in mpg is no longer. I mean obviously it’s not going to be a drastic increase in MPG anyway given that all these models have the biggest air dam I’ve ever seen just so they can say it gets better than the previous model.. take it off no savings.

I agree...I'm pretty sure the new tundra runs regular gas.

Well the thing is the motor in the Lexus makes the same hp and torque the new Tacoma is advertising. And it takes 91. Now the Highlander also uses the taco engine but it makes less power 265hp 310ftlb but maybe it's just detuned because of the power train? Still there is now way they have the Highlander requiring 91 so idk.

I wish the bar with the fog lights on the front was body color

I also kinda like the design of the limited grille but the chrome foglight bar way overdoes the chrome and I never like chrome wheels or mirror caps. Will wait to decide for sure on that grille till I see it in person

The Tacoma is not going to require Premium. I heard the same hysteria about the Tundra. My Tundra runs just fine on unleaded.

I drove my 3rd gen offroad with a 6' bed and manual transmission home from the bush camp through the thunderstorms this afternoon (Victoria Day holiday in Canada...home of the MT OR 6')

Our access cabs fare poorly in side impact tests. Not having the pillar between the front and back doors makes us much less sturdy that the double cabs.
Side impact tests are now part of getting a "five star" safety rating, and Toyota is big on meeting those requirements.
So, no "suicide" doors any more.

I'd imagine 87 will be fine. That's how Tundra & Highlander goes with the snail.
Tuning for octane rating is something else. The 1UR-FE 4.6 V8 in the old Tundra made 310HP/327LB-FT with 87, while the same 1UR-FE in the GX 460 made 301HP/329LB-FT on 91? I've never understood how Toyota rang that bell.

As a Die-hard Toyota guy, I'll be the first to admit when they've shit the bed----and they have many times over the years. If they made the Tacoma 91 required, I'd lose my ever-loving mind.

Just watched this video. Little tidbit I didn’t know and I’m not sure this is true or not. They mention around 16:30 that you can get a leaf spring setup on some models. Anyone else hear this?

Thanks for posting that. I have to correct something I said earlier and can't find (422 pages and counting....) to edit it.
Apparently we WILL get the Xtracab (2-door) SR5 in Canada, leaf springs and all. Driving.ca had different information.

Anyway, the other thing I noticed in the Canadian press release was that there is only the "higher" output 2.4L available, (to which a hybrid can be added, although as you note, it doesn't seem to include the Sport trim here) so no lower-powered 2.4 like the Americans will have. It did confirm we will only have 4x4 (or AWD in the Limited) up here, so that might be one of the reasons we don't get the detuned engine.

Will be interesting to see if the 4Runner will be on the same chassis.

Did someone say the 6 speed manual gets the big diff/axles from the hybrid power train?
