as far as suspension, i have three options. the simple is to use new leafs and redo the shackle design. the more involved is either a 4-link, or fab up something like this (which is surprisingly simple) http://www.aussieswag.com.au/images/suspensionrearweb.jpg

The third design looks nice but it looks like the control arms can only move statically and not dynamically. It is a good idea, you can find some control arms off of any car or truck in the junkyards and make a mount for it. I wonder it you can do it like this: []<l___l>[] instead, like how they're traditionally mounted or if I'm overthinking it and if it really even matters. Sorry about the shitty illustration.

it's funny you should say that, becasue i thought the exact same thing right after i posted. a trip to the junk yard could yeild a premade IFS setup, all i would have to do is build a mount setup and weld it to the bottom. it could be off something light duty, like a ranger, or first gen 5 lug, thwere the spindle length isn't too long, which keeps ground clearance, and has softer springs

 

That would be cool as hell man.

i'm gonna have to stop in and see what they would want for the front end of a vehicle. kill two birds with one ston too if it had good wheels and tires on it. maybe a long travel trailer isn't too far out of the picture

 

Finally reached our destination (Lubbock Texas) about an hour or so ago

 

Colin, If you have not already thought about it, you might want to cap all the open ends of the tubing you used. I made a dogbox out of the same stuff and all the open tubes ended up rusting out pretty quick.

yeah, i'm going to cap them all. that'll be the last step though. at the very bottoms i'm probably going to use plugs though, just in case. i'm sure not all of my welds are watertight, so any water that gets in through them, i want to be able to drain out.

So I think I'm going to go with the KM2's, the cheapest I can find them is $204 a tire which my local shop should match. Has anyone seen them cheaper? I was looking at the Mickey Thompson ATZ's but they are going to be about $240 a tire.

 

Is that price mounted and balanced? if so i would jump on it....def. a good price.

 

na that is just how much Tirerack has them for and my tire shop will price match so it would be 204 per tire plus mount and balance so probably around 950 OTD

 

still not bad. have you checked discounttires.com ?
your local shop may want to add in the shipping costs from tirerack in their match price......
when i got mine discounttires.com was cheapest with shipping, which i made 4wheel parts match.
