Title says it. Fresh swap with trailgear axle and when flexing everything I have decent up-travel for everything steering wise but the 3rd member hits the oil pan. I was under the impression that when swapping the oil pan for a rear sump the axle would clear the pan. Am I wrong or is something not positioned correctly? Steering geometry and axle brackets all look like they have good and correct positions.

If I set up bump stops to keep the 3rd member from touching the pan then I am limited to a very very small amount of up-travel on the driver side.

    Got any pictures?
First couple things that come to mind:
    • Axle not pushed forward enough or not centered
    • If leafs, shackle angle? whats your pinion angle
    • If links, too short lowers? whats your pinion angle

If pan is hitting third, it's not centered correctly.

I was guessing the axle wasnt in the correct spot if it was hitting the pan but wanted to make sure before I start cutting brackets off and redoing things.

Why not post pictures of what you got so we can understand your problem. This post reminds me of, my engine's making noise, can you point me in the right direction?

    Highly doubt it's link suspension.

If it's a TG axle, it should be centered properly unless you bought it without perch.

Another thing to look at is the front hanger, is it centered and if it's the correct length. Is seen guys weld 31.5 hanger when perch are at 29"

Is one/both leaf springs installed backwards?

No, the leafs are installed correctly.

My best guess right now is that I somehow screwed up my measurements on the location of the spring perches and put it too far back. Ride and shackle angle are good, it just hits the pan, severely reducing uptravel. Now that I know it is not “normal” I’ll just cut it off and move everything forward a few inches. Easy enough, but weird that the wheel and everything looks lined up with the wheel well.

Spring perch? I'm confused.... The perch can only be in one location, which is on the axle tube. o_O

Maybe your placement of the front hanger is too far back, which threw off the entire setup back, thus putting the pumpkin closer to the pan than desire.

Anyhow, you got any 360° pictures of the truck? That will help us try to help you

Yep. Can't help what we can't see. E can only assume at this point.

I am almost sure the front hanger is place too far inward towards the radiator, that's why everything got pushed back. I want to see OP's TRE and Drag link placement.

If it's not the hanger, than OP is using the wrong front spring. If you look at OP picture, the third mounting is centered to the pan which mean the spring bolt to perch is too far back, not the correct length.

    You running any bump stops?

I did the same thing you did and set the axle in the wrong spot, mistakes happen. I'm too lazy to fix it so I live with 1.5" of uptravel, it seems to work fine for the type of wheeling I do.

I’ll try get some pictures when I get back home, hopefully with the next month. But yeah bad terminology(running on a couple hours of sleep a day for weeks on end). Correct pieces everywhere, just bad placement of the hangers I guess. No big deal in chopping them off and moving it all forward a few inches. I wasn’t too thrilled on the height of it all either, so it’s a chance to raise the front hanger up more to lower the spring lift height also.
IT MIGHT BE A WHILE FOR PICTURES OR RESPONSE SO PLEASE BE PATIENT AND REFRAIN FROM SNIDE OR DISRESPECTFUL COMMENTS. BE PART OF THE SOLUTION, NOT THE PROBLEM.
