There’s a dust cover for your pinion seal that gets bent easily and could be rubbing.

 

That's the idea

 

Might drain and check the magnet? I've had to replace the pinion seal due to a little noise and found the little spring that lines the seal stuck on the magnet.. beats me how the spring made it through the bearings on the pinion and also stumped ECGS who built it for me..

 

ive pulled the third and no signs of rubbing or anything that was out of the norm compared to my spare diff. its like a ham slicer going and goes up and down with speeds.

 

Hows the movement on the Ujoin at the pinion? Any shavings in the oil.. Just helping brainstorm

 

i know the carrier can be replaced. not the worst but not helping. Threw the truck on stands in drive and it was in the third somewhere, she was making noise prior but it got significantly louder

 

He has a house up here. And lots of the guys come up here to hangout and camp.

 

Only thing I can think is the bearings maybe going out. Have you pulled the ring and pinion out of the 3rd housing to look at the bearings? Its a pain especially If you have regeared. With the variation of speed and the noise increasing.
