4th Gen Tacoma (2024+)

I think this one is spot on, I forgot what topic I saw it in but some guy thought a TRD Pro would be $70,000. I told him no f'ing way is that happening. He's like people will pay it because it is a Tacoma. I'm sorry but at $70,000 I'm buying a Ranger Raptor for $59,000 (even if it is marked up $5,000 it is still better than a $70k TRD Pro, personal opinion).

no way, they are way off, Raptor Ranger base is $59k

 

They have to be careful not to cause internal competition between tundra & tacoma. The 3rd gen has already gone up 5-6k over the past 2-3 years. Maybe +$10K in comparison between 2016 & 2024, but not another $10K from the 2023 prices.

 

I've seen between $52K and $59K. It's very probable the Hype that toyota values on the Pro will be worth more than $52K.

And honestly, I think the Trailhunter should be more than the Pro, but they will cash in on the hype like usual.

 

How much of a difference in weight is there between a base model access cab and a TRD double cab long bed? 400 lbs?

 

Nobody knows exactly what prices will do, but I can guarantee that 2024 will be a banner year for pinstripes, floor mats, and paint protection.

Of course the sticker price will go up significantly, but dealer markups will likely be the greater obstacle to early ownership. It’s already been difficult to find a Gen3 Pro anywhere w/o 5k+ added on the sticker, not to mention the (SET) distributor add-ons.

Watching Tacoma fans hand their paychecks over to Toyota dealers this fall will be slightly less pleasant than watching a train wreck.

Unsolicited advice, while there’s still time & supply:
Take a deal now on a ‘23, and you will still get a great looking, reliable truck w high resale value. Trust me, you can live w/o a power tailgate for a couple years. After you sign the paperwork for your new ‘23, then schedule a Gen4 test drive for March of 2025. Or better yet, after the first refresh.

 

Historically, how accurate have KBB estimates been?

Full time AWD in a pickup. Has that been offered before?

 

In chevy/GMC/Fords and I think Rams...yes....Toyotas...no..

 

You think Toyota is the first to ever do anything?

Toyota does not innovate and stays about 5 years behind the curve. You will never have to ask if xyz is the first to be done by Toyota.

 

As far as pricing increases, I wonder what the price increase % was when the new Tundra was announced. Probably could base the Tacoma price increase off of that.

 

Would you mind pointing out prior examples of compact pickups with AWD? I haven't previously heard of that, though I do realize I'm not the most aware of things.

I definitely have heard of AWD in various SUV platforms, but for pickup trucks smaller than full size specifically.

 

Does the Ridgeline count? Subaru Baja?

 

Generally no but they are one of the first to offer a hybrid mid size pickup.

 

Ford did that two years ago with the Maverick.

Toyota typically waits for other companies to screw up ‘innovative’ and new things. Nissan tried to jump the gun with CVT transmissions and look at their reputation because of it. Toyota waited, tested and perfected it. Same with a twin turbo 4cylinder.

I’d rather have the brand I’m loyal to be a few years behind but have the reliability. Not sure why everyone waits and doesn’t buy the first year of a new generation. Toyota hasn’t failed us with new generations.

 

For midsize specifically, Dodge Dakota, Ford Maverick, and Honda Ridgeline quickly come to mind.

 

I was thinking of the Baja. Neighbor had one and recently traded for a Santa Cruz which I think is a nice light duty modern El Camino.
Ridgeline has AWD? I didn't look closely enough to see/notice that.

I'm thinking AWD on a body on frame pickup truck smaller than full size. This is the first?
