    It goes momentarily lean and rpm drops, then regular enrichment kicks in and it comes back fine, I think its because my map is a converted ESP map and there was a transient throttle bug in ESP that was fixed in NSP. I just am not too sure how much to add back.

    This is from the version 3.0 changelog, so maybe I just need to multiply my values by 6 and give it a go

    • This release fixes an issue with Transient Throttle Async where it was causing too many async pulses, not matching the Max Async Injector Pulses setting.
      • This bug only affects you if:
        • Your Fuel Tuning Tuning Method is not Injection Time.
        • AND your first injector stage is not a Per Injector setup.
      • Transient Throttle Async will need to be retuned if you have been affected by this bug.
      • This bug caused the number of async injections to be multiplied by the number of cylinders you have.
      • As a quick re-tune to achieve similar fueling as before, you can multiply the values in Enrich Amount (Async) by your number of cylinders.
        • You can do this easily by using the multiplier table shortcut in NSP. Eg if your number of cylinders is 6, you can select the whole table with Ctrl a, then type 6 followed by *, and hit enter.
        • You can also increase the number of Max Async Injector Pulses.
      • This is a legacy issue from ESP compatible firmwares.

    Yeah in Haltech speak it is called Transient throttle and you get control over synchronous (sequential) and asynchronous (batch) injection to appropriately fill in the transient events depending on load derivative and rpm. Some load scenarios benefit more from async while most benefit from sync. I think my async is off and only really badly down low since I have more sync programmed in up high anyway

    Well heck, yeah its probably the transient throttle bug then. I guess I'll multiply mine by 6 this afternoon and if it works we can do it remotely to yours. Contemplating removing async entirely, it isn't a requirement and it is more beneficial for systems that have the injectors far from the valve.

    Sounds similar to my issue. Although my tune started out in NSP.
    I've tried taking the enrich overall correction all the way up to 80% to no avail. along with increasing the load rate dead band and load accelerated dead band values.

    I'd start with seeing if it's because of the bug or not like what you're saying

    Yeah I'm at a solid 60% on that one haha. It's not so much that I don't understand the math but more so how it arranges async vs sync when both are present since you can demand over 100% of function in the enrich map

    Do you think that transient throttle async is what is causing the idle surging I've been seeing since going to NSP?

    No that's entirely unrelated. That's an easy enough fix when you come over. That's just idle control settings that are annoying since you have an auto

    It can be triggered by a stab of the throttle followed by a full release of the throttle.

    But if it was transient related it would sort itself out after RPM lowers. I think it's just touching a mostly untuned cell in your idle control base map

    Make sure you're not blipping it, it needs to be held to get the accurate reading or the decel/disenrich will take over and there will be too much hysteresis to see it

    I still don't really understand practically how async pulses work. My intuition says that wasted spark should never have async fuel or you're going to misfire, but that doesn't seem to be how it works

    I'll give it a look when I go out to the shop later. I will say this wasn't an issue pre ESP to NSP conversion though and the fuel map was hitting targets there fine.
